getting a cheap rimfire-rifle, Savage or Norinco?

Savage bolt action 22LR for what you get its a damn good deal!
Norinco......cheap chinese garbage. Seriously. I've never shot one but I did look at buying one once. The fit and finish left much to desire and this did not inspire confidence in its internal fit and construction. The barrel was touching one side of the stock and about 1/8" space on the other.

I'm going to have to come into the conversation at this point and join the Savage crowd. I have a Stevens 300 bolt action repeater which is pretty well a direct copy of the Savage MKII, minus the Accutrigger of course. I also have a Savage 64G semi-automatic .22lr. Both of them are incredibly well made guns for the money and have never let me down. A friend of mine has recently allowed me the use of his older 10/22, and from what little I have handled it, it seems to be a truly excellent rifle.

The 10/22 has the accessory market won hands-down, but my Savage 64G was almost half of the price. Pick both up and see which one you like better.

Stevens,Mossburg and Savage are all the same. Stevens and Mossburg are the economy brands. So pretty much the stevens 300 IS a Savage MK-II without an acutrigger.

Norincos are good for stuff like cheap ARs and 1911s but if you're buying a rimfire which is fairly inexpensive already, you might as well go for the Savage. Personally, I need a nice trigger on my rimfires and it's tough to beat that Accutrigger out of the box...
