Getting a dog

Finally got the pup, her name is Maggie.

Awwwwwwww.......

We were there a little over a month ago. This is where we are now:

They grow up so fast. You won't regret a minute of it (ok, well the first xmas tree is a royal PITA, but so worth it).

Anyone here ever had a 'Gordon Setter'?
Rumor had it there was a Border collie got jiggy with a Setter. And Border Collie's while hyper are smart as a whip.
We had a Gordon 20 years back but it was not a hunting dog; just a companion dog. Always wondered how they would do as a bird dog...

Little small yet to be fetching tennis balls but can't wait till she's a bit older to really start running her. Had her home for less than a day and she already has "sit" down so pretty happy with that. Think she's gonna be a pretty quick study with the rest of her training too.

I thought so too when I took my pup outside at 8 and half weeks old, but he fetch the ball, had to film it, have it somewhere on utube too :)

Our new pup recently got a new home.
We found we couldn't dedicate the required time to him that a dog needs. Basically, our house, schedule, and life were not setup up, and could not be setup to have dog in the family.

EL34/6L6 think you did the right thing for the dog.

Rhino you're dog looks like an awesome companion. Gonna get Maggie out fetching ASAP. Looks like terrific fun.

Yes, that's what it came down to. He deserved better. We knew it would be an adjustment and big undertaking, and believed we could make the appropriate changes to our lives. But in the end it was far more taxing on the family than we were comfortable with and the dog needed a more suitable environment. Loving and wanting a dog isnt enough...

Congrats, its a joyous thing.
I just got my first dog, a Boxer/Lab cross. He's 9 weeks, and already 17 lbs! Not so much a hunting dog, but a great friend to have at the lake and out shooting. (snip)

That's awesome, hopefully he gets the brains of the Lab. I have a boxer. And we LOVE him. But WOW.. I would not hunt with it lol. Not the brightest lightbulb hahah.. A lab cross sounds like it would make a world of difference though. That dog looks gorgeous too.. happy hunting!

In a previous post he said he had to unfortunately do what was best for the dog and him/his family and send the pup to a new home. Kudos to Mr. EL34/6L6 for doing the right thing.
