Getting a used .22LR from Intersurplus.

Hello!

I am very new to firearms and all; I bought a Winchester 1892 and had about 100 rounds so far and thoroughly enjoyed it.(I am planning to plink away for the season until I can get better at aiming before I go hunting)

The friend that took me to the range had a 10/22 with him that day and I really enjoyed the affordability of shooting it..

I am pretty sure I am NOT A FAN the semi-autos at this point and my friend suggested I take a look at either the T1x or CZ 457...

The question here is, instead of deciding between those two, Intersurplus seems to have a laundry list of cheaper bolt .22LRs available; the problem is they often don't state what the models are, examples such as https://intersurplus.com/collections/22-lr/products/voere-single-shot-in-22lr .

I am wondering what you guys' thoughts are on getting one of these .22LRs(or from intersurplus in general)?

Basically use case is to plink and maybe hunting down the road; I plan on keeping these things forever(I am a bit of a hoarder)

Budget is around $5-600 bucks at this point.

Any recommendation and direction on what to expect or look out for would be greatly appreciated!

I've bought .22's from them and have not been disappointed... however read the fine print carefully as many have some minor issues. If you're OK with the stated discrepancies then proceed but do your research first.

I've had great success with my Savage MkII bolt action, ludicrously accurate but magazines are slightly fragile. I've had great success with mine, it's quite the tack driver.

You'll want a semi-auto eventually unless you're a dedicated accuracy chaser. You can't beat a 10/22 for semi-auto performance (even stock) and upgradability.

Thanks! Like I said, my biggest barrier so far is they dont seem to include model numbers, just simple titles and description like 'Voere Single Shot in 22LR', which seems to cover everything...

you can ask, they are good about giving more details. you can deal with confidence at Intersurplus or GreatNorthGuns
one advantage you might find with one of the surplus, depending on the model it may be scaled about the same size as a regular hunting rifle which would be good for learning
thee may even be .22s labelled as 'trainer' which were built with this exact intent

No need to keep up with the cz or tikka fanboys, there are lots of good .22s out there

Thank you for the comments so far!

If I decide to go the way of one and done(like a gun that can be passed on like my Winchester), will something like a Zephy II or 1416D work better, prophet river seems to have those in woodstock on sale)?

Or should I just stick to picking one from either intersurplus or greatnorthguns?

Buy a .22 bolt action rifle... and shoot and shoot it. Forget the semi auto. Hone your skills and become a sniper... I had my first .22 bolt action when I was 6 and shot it for 10 years before getting another rifle. Over my lifetime I have had pretty well everything. I have alway preferred the superior accuracy and reliability of the bolt action. My Browning Trombone was a close second.

From my experience I'd look to BRNO and CZ, if you want a repeater. A Husqvarna single shot if you'd like a small, cute, and very accurate lightweight rifle, perfect for grouse or rabbits. Or an Anschutz Match 64 or (one step up) 54 single shot target rifle, with the target sights intact, if you maximum accuracy, which to my mind is the only reason to go to the range. The Anschutz Match 64 is commonly available as the CIL/Anschutz 190. If you want to learn to shoot well, avoid semi autos and optics.

I would not touch such a used rifle, it's a complete waste of money!
No parts available if something breaks or get lost.
Accuracy and condition is questionable.

It took me not even a minute to find so many way better choices out there, just check this is one of them:
(Made in Canada if that matters to you.)

A single shot 22lr is about as boring as watching the paint try, unless it is a super accurate Match Rifle.

I've purchased a few anschutz 64 sporters from intersurplus and GNG mostly 1416's, they are usually around the 4-600$ mark. Excellent rifle for the price and don't be fooled there are lots or parts still available. A much higher quality rifle than a Savage in my opinion
Did you actually read his post?
He is asking about a VOERE SINGLE SHOT!

He is also saying he has a budget. So means he is open to other options. Both my Anschutz 64 ( Silhouette and 1403 ) cost me under 600$

I disagree about single shots not being fun. I watch soo many people at shoots, rip thru ammo with their mag fed, that they miss alot.

I have a Savage MK2 as well. Shoots okay, already had to replace a mag, because it split.

Lots of old winners out there.
Winchester 69A
Mossberg
Marlin makes great accurate repeaters
Old Browning T-Bolts & Trombones

I just picked up a great old 62A

I/S has lost any chance of selling me anything.
Better outfits out there to deal with.
But ymmv. 🧈

The Savage B-22 FV is just as accurate and has a rotary mag that has never failed me in 5-6 years - I have 4-mags now and have 'reduced' the tension to allow better loading and feeding. The B-22 runs about $100 or so more than the MKII and doesn't have that 'dangly thing' getting in the way. And polishing the action parts can bring the trigger down to ca 1-2# for targets, while adjustable up for hunting.

If you put your reading glasses on, you could see, that I posted this:

You suggested a Savage MK2. Then you went after the guy for suggesting Anschutz's and how he was only asking about the Voere.

So you are just arguing for the sake of arguing. So don't tell others to read when you cannot even do what you are telling others.
