Getting agitated with Remington Model 7 - SOLVED

Try dropping the floorplate when you close the action, sometimes the bolt touches the follower making a bit of noise, no issue with a loaded magazine.

I'm interested in this as well. I only have one Model 7 in a 204 Ruger and mine was making the squeaking as well. I really started to notice it after I replaced the firing pin with a Gre-Tan lightweight one.

It makes the noise even with the floorplate dropped.

Bolt shroud?

Try grease between the shroud and bolt body, heard of aftermarket shouds like above post galling up. Or look for burrs somewhere, had a CZ that had a jam up burr on it, almost lock it up solid.

Wiped off the grease from the lugs, smoothed them up a bit more with 600 grit sandpaper and piled on the Imperial Sizing Wax. Squeaking is gone. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions - especially the Imperial Sizing Wax. I never would have thought to use that.
