On rifle stocks only need an import permit if the order value excluding shipping is over $100 US' Did you ask Numrich if you needed one?

m14 is considered an assault rifle and as such needs a permit for so much as a screw. the 100$ limit doesn`t apply

is it possible to get a scope mount through for the m14/305 without a permit? anyone try it?

All mounts for firearms optics require export permits. There is no $$$$$ expemtion.

By trying to export a mount out of the U.S. without an export permit would violate U.S.law.

The question you have posted is pushing the boundries of the CGN board policy on import/exports.

Numrich sent my M14 stock without problems?

How long ago???

They did not require permits until roughly 6 months ago, when the U.S. Goverment re-classified the M14 & M1 Carbine.

Previous to that I had ordered around 24 stocks when permits weren't required.

Numrich will do things right to the letter of the law.

####, I guess I got mine just before they passed it :D

with all the laws - out of all the companies in the USA and different border staff on their side and ours it is impossible to keep track of everything. It does not make it right, and I am not saying to push the limits, but the ammount of paperwork for a little spring or a screw is not realistic.

getting an import permit is incredibly simple. Just give DFAIT a call and they will send you one. You can still buy all of these parts, it will just take longer,... a lot longer.

But the M1A wasn't classified that way last I heard. Please correct me if that has changed, but my understanding is that ordering M1A parts is much less hassle than M14 parts.

So if you're in a rush, order a stock for the M1A from springfield. Their stock is supposed to be much higher quality than their rifle is. :D

"...M1A wasn't classified..." Yep. It's not a battle rifle nor an M-14. It's a commercial rifle.
There's a link for a 'how-to' for getting the Canadian import permit on the CFC site. Mind you, the site is down. I believe, but am certainly not sure, that the U.S. export permits are issued on a single purchase basis only. That is it's not like a PAL. You need one every time you buy something from a U.S. licenced exporter. I don't think there's a blanket export permit.
