I'd gladly purchase a Number 1 in 22 long rifle if the are manufactured.
In the past few years Ruger has scaled back both the production and model selection of these fine rifles.
Since William Ruger introduced Ruger Number Ones in 1967 they have only appealed to a very small segment of the shooting population.
This segment is dwindling even more. In order to chamber a rim fire cartridge in a #1 extensive engineering would have to take place, I don't see Ruger doing this at this time.
IMHO if a rim fire #1would have been manufactured it would have been in the early years of production. The #1 was one Bill Rugers pet projects yet there never was a rim fire #1. A number of gun smiths have rebarreled #1 but to date no factory guns have been authenticated.
Retail price definitely makes this a niche rifle with current pricing in excess of $2000.00 .
If these guns are ever produced they will be heavy for a 22 rim fire. My 222 1A with a 22" barrel an open sights weighs 7 and a quarter pounds without scope and rings.
A rim fire will be a few ounces heavier, add 4 to 6 ounces if you went laminate stainless, or even more if you go to the 26" 1B barrel configuration.
Now your 8 lbs plus without a scope.
As much I'd like to own one , I just don't see these in production.
