Getting into 257 Weatherby Mag need advice!

Going to be getting a 257 Weatherby Mag and need some reloading tips and/or suggestions.

Dies....

Who makes a decent set with both the full length and neck sizing dies? I see Lyman, Redding, & Forester making them. Any opinions either way???

Who makes a crimp die? I can not seem to find one. It looks like the Lee FCD in 25-06 would work just fine, but I'm not sure. Again looking for suggestions.

Rl 22 and h 1000 worked with 100 tsx's and 110 accubonds for me. I used standard fl rcbs dies and was able to get good groups.
 
IMR 7828 blows the doors off every other powder in my 257 WBY. Accurate too. 69gr and Fed 215LRM primers with 120gr Partition for everything @ 3300fps from a 24" barrel. 115gr Ballistic tips and Barnes TSX ,same load just a hair under 3400fps.
I use RCBS FL dies. All these loads shoot an inch or less at 100yds from my Vanguard SS.
 
Well the guy I'm getting the .256 from has a bunch of brass to go with the rifle. So that will not be a problem.

I've used RL22 in my .338 win mag with awesome results, so since I have that powder sitting around i'll use that to start with. Probably 100gr Barnes TTSX's as well.

For dies I'm still torn. Everyone really likes what they like. (Ford vs Chevy type of thing)

I think I might get the Redding dies, since I can get everything in one pac (FL, & neck sizing, & seater) It'll be a few months before i get the dies though (probably spring)

I'm still going to get the 25-06 Lee FCD to lightly crimp my loads, since it's what I prefer to do.

I have a ton of RCBS dies and then I bought my first redding and that's what I'll buy from now on. Both R22 and the Imr 7828 work fantastic in this cartridge with that much room. I have never gotten TSXs or TTSXs to fly and my 257 was no exception but maybe I just have bad luck with them. On the other hand I have always gotten bergers to fly, and I'm just tuning those on my 257 right now. You will have trouble getting close to the lands if you have a weatherby rifle as they have a ton of freebore!
 
Ya i read about that one.

Something along the lines of loading to the max size that will fit into the mag. That's all. You have to allow for the freebore? I'll have to figure it out, but thankfully there is a lot of great advice on this forum when i do get to reloading for this (next summer)

I think ur right about wasting money on Wby Brass. Paid 54 bucks for factory loads(case of 20) cause I couldn't get brass that day. Don't get to the city much. Didn't think of 7mm brass. Got a ton of them. Can u just run it through the dies? Never strayed that far of the beaten path. When I'm putting the bullet in the neck I have scrunched down the case on three of the brass(hurts cause I only have 40 @ $54.00/20). Seems like a real tight fit. Am I doing anything wrong? Lube the bullet and it does go better. I am kind of a renewed reloader and don't have a lot of experience.
