Hey guys, new to the forum looking for some insight. I am looking to get into the AR platform and unsure which manufactures to stick with and which to stay away from. So far, doing my own research, etc, online, I've narrowed it to Stag Arms, or Rock River. I also really like the Sig 556 Enhanced. Price point is $1500 or so, for rifle anyway. Staying away from Norinco seems to be a common sentiment. What I would like is a flat top for a red dot optic such as the Aimpoint PRO, or EOTec, in combination with flip up iron. I would like a rail for a light as well.

My current inventory of firearms consists of R700 in 30-06, Ruger 10/22 and S&W pistol in 9mm.

Also, some retailers suggestions would be helpful. Questar seems good to my eye and they carry what I am eyeing.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Actually Norinco's are highly encouraged on CGN, each batch seems to be better than the previous. personally I highly recommend shopping in Equipment Exchange your dollars goes a lot further in there. barely used, chalk full of aftermarket accessories with no taxes and with shipping included.

Did you look at spikes tactical and Daniel Defense?
I agree with the staying away from the norinco. that is if you want a quality AR.

I would never tarnish my gun vault with a Norinco but lot's of guy's like them and that is totally ther call. thats the great part of living in a semi free country you can buy and like anything you want even if other's hate it.

Oh and a word of caution Stag really isnt worth the money they ask for them I have been to alot of carbine course's in the last 2 year's and they don't seem to work aswell as the owner's claim I have noticed lots of FTF. I have looked at the feed ramps on those and they are horrible but the next stag has ok feed ramps.

So if you do get a stag look at them see if it looks like they carved them out with an axe.

My Windham Weaponry SRC is a well built rifle and the price leaves room for a decent sight (if you bought Norc. you'd have room for ammo too) I've never heard a compliant from someone who actually owns a WW AR. My one niggle is the commercial rather than mil spec tube but for most people (myself included) this is no big thing. The lifetime transferable warranty is nice too. The great thing is there are lots of great choices in this range. Good luck with finding 'your' best rile!

I know a lot of you don't like Norinco. After listening to all the criticism I bought one an M4. I have put over a 1,000 rds through it with no malfunction of any kind. The finish is great and the price is right, which left a lot for ammo. Buy one and shoot the hell out of it. I am in the process of buying another one for my wife and the ammo to go with it.

Questar has a 16" Spike's available. If you're looking for that size, scoop it up before someone else does.
You cannot go wrong with a Spike's anything.

If you have settled on those two I would fully recommend the RRA its a great company, good quality for a great price.

Another thing to look into in that price range is Core15 another american built ar that I have had no issues with.
