Getting into IPSC Production: CZ75 SP01, Glock 17 or 17C ?

I heard the Beretta's don't do too bad in IPSC in Canada...............

A Beretta has only been the winning gun once at the Nationals (03) whereas Glock 22s were the winning gun twice (02 & 04). (A CZ won in 05) So I guess Glocks are the winningest Production Division pistol in Canada......;)

From the IPSC website...

Production Division
1 Minimum power factor for Major Not applicable
2 Minimum power factor for Minor 125
3 Minimum bullet weight No
4 Minimum bullet caliber / cartridge case length 9mm (0.354”) / 19mm (0.748")
5 Minimum bullet caliber for Major Not applicable
6 Minimum trigger pull (see Appendix F2) 2.27 kg (5lbs) for first shot
7 Maximum handgun size Maximum barrel length 127mm (5”)
8 Maximum magazine length Yes, see below.
9 Maximum ammunition capacity No
10 Max. distance of handgun and mags/speed loaders from torso 50mm
11 Rule 5.2.3.1 applies Yes
12 Restriction on position of holster and other equipment Yes, see below.
13 Optical/electronic sights permitted No
14 Compensators permitted No
15 Ports permitted No

16. Only handguns approved and listed on the IPSC website may be used in Production Division.

No power factor in production.

The list of approved pistols can be found HERE.

Hope that helps.

Anybody know what holsters are good for IDPA and IPSC? I have a CZ 75B and a SP01 - can I get away with one holster for both divisions? If so which would be up my alley?

Why would a .40 be more advantageous than a 9mm in Production Division ?
Is it because of the minor/major thing ?
(please forgive me, I'm an IPSC newbie...)

Because you can down load the 40cal to have the PF ~9mm but with less snap...

I recommend a Blade-Tech Dropped Offset Holster (DOH) for IPSC:

And their belt holster for IDPA:

The belt holster can be used for both IPSC and IDPA.

If you're in Calgary, go to 911 Supply at 4327A Manhattan Rd SE. They're the Blade-Tech distributers for Canada
