Getting old sucks!!!!!

Yep, I sympathize. Getting old is not great, but I refuse to stop the activities I love. [I'm 74]

Just a bit slower and more cautious these days. Don't like packing heavy loads, so a quad does
that work where possible. Only health issue is a sciatic nerve in my left hip that acts up on
occasion. Edit: Eye doc says cataracts are starting....whoopeee!!

I will hunt Elk, Moose and deer [2 species] this fall. Living in this part of the world
definitely has it's perks. :) :) Dave.

I'm only 54. 3 heart attacks over the last 15 years, 5 stents now, arthritis everywhere including severe degenerative disc disease. Got hit on my Harley last year and recovering from shoulder surgery from 3 bad tears including detached bicep. It hurts to get out of bed. Nobody to take care of me (or hear me gripe about it!) and savings all gone.....yep, life is dandy right now.

turned 50 this year.....
got wacked in the bean with a 16pound sledge hammer o the job in 97 which kinda messed me up a bit LOL ….. recovered from that and in 98 got crushed by a toppling 380pound multi port oxygen tank on a bridge building site. Landed right on me and pinned my leg , pelvis and chest to the ground for over 1/2 an hour before I managed to bear hug and roll it off me.
Separated SI joint on left pelvis/tailbone, sublaxation of the right SI joint. Tore nearly every muscle in my right shoulder and back rolling the bottle and broke 3 ribs in the process.
Not an injury you ever recover from as the surgeries are not covered in Canada and require an 18month hospital stay and then rehab...…
I can only maintain and fight to keep my mobility thru the pain.

Not being able to hunt will turn me into a grumpy bitter bastard so hopefully I can get these doctors to dream up something to keep me going.
too young to be like this...… sucks balls but we press on!!

Gettind old is sometimes a bad time but we have to take it with a smile, actually it's the last time weve got.

52 years old here:
225 pounds ran a 25km trail race yesterday - my eyes/ears are going think I giving Hellen Keller a run for her money.
Waking up stiff is a good thing these days

cheers
a few more trips around the sun

The Elders have mentioned that life is the reflection of our seasons...………...all four hopefully.
I really really miss the summer years.
I'm not as bad as some, but I'm pretty sure most wouldn't trade places with moi if they could
per chance slip into me slippers for a fort night or two.

As old Red use to say, keep yer stick on the ice, we're awl into this together.

Only 56 but was 303 pounds ,knees and back bad, lost 80 pounds recently really helped out with that but eye's and ears still suck
Just trying to push through it lol

As someone who doesn't qualify as old, I feel the need to thank all of you guys for being old, knowin' #### and sharing it with the rest of us.

I'm getting older, but I sure am not frail!
To be honest, my medic is on my case to lose some weight and it's good advice. I spend far too much time sitting at a desk.
Retirement is not too far off and I could take that leap sooner rather than later, if needed.

Growing old is a privilege and not everyone gets the opportunity. You need to embrace it, recognize that things change, you can't do everything like you used to or at the speed you used to, and that's OK. It's not all bad when folks look at you, their eyes get a little wide and they ask if you are OK or if you need help. I hear that once they start to put their hand on your forearm, that's when you have really need to worry!

Tried to retire. Hated it so I am about to start a new job doing something I have never done tomorrow. People there know that but for some reason they want to pay me a pile of money to work there. Felt like I was getting old but I refuse send to accept it. Took on a major project at home and went at it and got it done and I feel great. Screw getting old.

BTW. Threw my back out today picking up a small wood block. F@@@@@@@@ck

Going to treat it with muscle relaxants and whiskey I will see if I make it to work lol...

I’m not done yet but rapidly approaching the age that I need to be careful / smart(er). Truth be told I’ve crossed that line already.
In terms of dragging deer I can report I bought one of those gimmicky two wheeled collapsable carts a few years ago — and I have to say that it’s fantastic. With two people even more so as ya can lift it over stiff too. It’s hi on both ends and low at the wheels.

i'm 64 and feel a lot better after reading this thread.bad knees and an ankle that won't heal after a motor cycle accident a few years ago. guess when i can't hunt and fish anymore i will feel sorry for myself but for now i'm getting ready for hunting season. a few pains aren't going to stop me for now but its sure making it more difficult.

I'm pushing 70.

I've always been a willing participant in just about everything I've done. I've got the scars to prove it, just like many others here. It's when I'm only able to be an observer that the magic will be gone.

Speaking of "observers" Luke, I didn't see you at the Vernon Gun Show this weekend.

Getting old is just the last stage of living. Some are prepared for it and some aren't. Most just take it as it comes.

There are things I can no longer do. There are things I can do better now, than I did when I was young.

I have sympathy for those that waste their time lamenting lost youth because they're just wasting the time they have left.

Do what you enjoy while you can do it. Death will find you, you can't hide. That being said, Death will not bother you until it's time.

I also have sympathy for those that die slow and hard.

Mother Theresa, a great woman, felt everyone should be able to have a dignified ending, that doesn't always happen. As people age and their friends pass before them, they start feeling life is lonely and pointless.

I see it happening all the time, especially in those darn "retirement centers" where they go to pass their last moments.

I was going to make a joke about Liberals being walking dead but ?????????

Life is like a bike ride - when you're young, you are pedaling uphill, and think you'll never get to the top. When you do get there, man, what a view - the whole world is in front of you. Then, you start going downhill, picking up speed as you go. Then, you find out the bike has no brakes. After that, you find out there's a brick wall at the bottom.

I took on a project that is going to be time consuming.
Then my new chainsaw developed an attitude so down to the shop I purchased it from.
Took four shooters with me and the gent that runs the shop down there made an acceptable offer
on all four.
Came home and fired up the mini excavator and have been digging for a while.
Gett'in pretty gooder at chasing the bucket with me eyes.
And I'm barely started.
Hopefully by weeks end I have accomplished something.

I almost made it out the door early Friday mourn'in.
Figured about $100 bucks worth of fuel, probably $400-$500 worth of ker-ching owt me paw-kit.
Ended up with ne-er ahh kupple g's staying home richer.

My humble appologies Mr. G.
