I need to replace the firing pin on my USP. Can buy a replacement part from HK USA or do I have to deal with FN Sports? Would shipping across the border be a problem?

Good luck either way. If you want I can give you a firing pin from one of my dead range guns.

My dealer in NB ordered from FN (who actually have some HK parts in Stock), and I received it within around 3 business days. (have firing pin and spring, extractor, flat spring, detent pin and spring, trigger bar, etc..)

is this a big problem with H&K USP ? I just bought one and would like to know .
The firing pin is known as the USP's weakest link. If yours is of recent manufacture (2005 or 2006) you're probably okay because HK redesigned that part last year.

Some yes, some no. AFter countless dryfiring and 8500rds of Winchester 147gr ammo, I had mine brake. Some others have had more than double that amount of ammo down range and no problems. Newer USP's have a slightly thicker firing pin. If you have the above amount of use, preventative maintenance wouldn't hurt. HK's are reliable and work great, but like any other pistol, they will wear out parts. RedLeg would know, as he rents them out at his range, so they get lots of ammo thru them. Flat spring is cheap, as is firing pin and spring. Extractors are brute tough, but may brake after extreme usage (very high round count), or using steel cased ammo (?)
