Where do you guys get your quality 22LR ammo? I don't mean the plinking junk like Federal blue box or Winchester Dynapoints (nothing wrong with them, I shoot them with my S&W 422 :D), but the real quality stuff for target shooting. Around Vancouver I can only find Eley Tenex as the best stuff, with Lapua Super Club and some other Eley stuff in the mix.

Where do you get your fill? Any online shops and/or contacts?

What are you looking for? Win Target, Fed Gold medal. CCI standard velocity is a very accurate round in many guys 22's. There is a place in Nova Scotia that had Lapua master M last spring, I think it was $175.00 per brick.

Tenex, CCI Green Tag, are supposed to be excellent ammo choices. FS

I have the same problem here in Calgary except for Proline Shooters who carry Fiocchi 320 Match ammo but it is not cheap at $80 per brick. Russels does carry some Eley but they have been out of stock for awhile. Leaving CCI Standard Velocity and Green Tag.

Good luck with your search and let us know how you make out.

Lapua Master M would be something I'm willing to try. Midas also. Haven't seen Green Tag where I am. What other options do I have?

I just got a real nice Krico so I feel it deserves the best ammo it can get, even if it will cost an arm and a leg. :D

Dammit I should have stocked up on Tenex last summer before this recent ammo price spike :(

Don't discount the low cost stuff, I've got a Brno that won't shoot even match grade ammo very well, but give it some Winchester Super X or PMC's and it will shoot ragged holes all day long. Give the gun what it likes, not what it should like

I haven't been impressed by Green Tag... at twice the price, it's no better than CCI SV from what I've seen. It tends to exhibit significant vertical stringing out at 200 yd.

Fed GM or 510 are both very good for the price. Mid range Eley and Lapua are very good as well. Like previous posters mentioned, quality is not always reflected by price. Brand name, however, is.

Sounds like you should pick up a dozen boxes of 50 and go see what your Krico likes to eat.

.22 ammo

I buy CCI .22 LR std. velocity by the case....priced decently, accurate, and in some s/a actions it doesn't beat up the gun after thousands of rounds..

Contact North Silva in Toronto. They carry Eley and Lapua and a few others. I found some Lapua Master at about $80 a brick that shot better in my Anshutz rifle than Eley EPS at 50 and 100 yards at $150/brick.

I bought some expensive stuff (Dynamit Nobel) from the club I shoot at and off a benchrest at 25M the Federal Bulk grouped way better. This was out of my Ruger MKIII not a fancy target pistol that some of the members there shoot with.

Euro Match

I have the same problem here in Calgary except for Proline Shooters who carry Fiocchi 320 Match ammo but it is not cheap at $80 per brick. Russels does carry some Eley but they have been out of stock for awhile. Leaving CCI Standard Velocity and Green Tag.

Good luck with your search and let us know how you make out.

Sluice

$80.00 a brick for Euro match ammo is a bargain, esp. compared to Eley and Lapua, or Green Tag. FS

I got a ton of stuff to try out, but most of my current stash are low-end plinking/hunting stuff (CCI SV, Minimags, Velocitor, Stinger oops, AE 38 and 40gr, and so on). The only quality stuff I have left is Lapua Super Club and Eley Club.

Gotta give the local stores a call to see what they have in stock..

I just called some local stores. Some of them are carrying Eley EPS for $16/50, which isn't that bad. Midas is $19/50.

'Eff me, rimfire ammo is starting to close in on my centrefire ammo costs... :(

Cheating the Price

Get yourself a rim gauge ,Buy a Brick of cheap stuff , Grade as to rim thickness keeping the same Rim thickness in the same batch.
This makes a big difference on your Grouping ,

Please elaborate. I had not heard of a rim gauge before. How does it make a difference for my groups?

Your .22 headspaces off the rim. Using the gauge you sort your ammunition into groups with the same rim thickness. Then if you wana keep going sort these groups by weight.
By doing this you eliminate more variables and will likely shoot tighter groups.
Its amazing the difference in rim thickness between cartridges in the same lot.
