Hi , getting my RPAL and want to get a 22lr pistol. These are what I'm thinking of getting....Browning Buckmark contour UDX 5.5 in; Berretta U22 Neos and Ruger 22/45 Lite. Just gonna be plinking at sillhouettes and some targets..... thoughts? :d

Just be aware there is a challenge with the Ruger to disassemble and reassemble for cleaning as long as your aware of and willing to take it on, your in good shape..

The Ruger is by far the stronger of the three. It is harder to take apart and put back together but once you figure it out Bob's your uncle. It will also last at least twice as long as you will ever live if you take care of it.

I have a Buck Mark in the stainless black laminate UDX model and use it in my Monday Night Bulls-Eye pistol matches. It's in "off the shelf" condition and the accuracy is amazing with Federal ammo.It will shoot anything I put in but prefers Federal fodder. My wife likes this pistol so much she wants it in the pink version for her birthday.Don't let anyone scare you about dis-assembly,it's very simple to take apart and put together.Don't get me wrong, I own Ruger pistols and like them, but the Browning is more refined in details like machining, fit and finish IMO.cou:

I've not shot any of the three you listed, but one thing I HIGHLY recommend.

Go to the website for each, and make SURE they will work with the ammo you buy.

I bought 2 .22 firearms. One a pistol in a 1911 style and one a tacticool .22 semi auto rifle.

BOTH require "high velocity" ammo. Meaning .22 ammo that goes over 1400fps.

Problem is, most of the .22 ammo you can find is sub 1200fps ammo. So it gives FTF on about 1 in 20-30 rounds.

I made the assumption that all .22lr would work fine with the standard .22 ammo you see everywhere.

VERIFY what ammo to feed the one you ultimately choose before you buy it.

I have a stainless buckmark. Great gun and I would not try and discourage anyone from getting one. I've also shot the m&p 22 a bit. It is not like the buckmark but it's a good 22 pistol. I liked it better than the sig mosquito.

I would take a look at the sig classic 22. You can upgrade it to 9mm or .40 later if you want all with the same frame. Just make sure tis the classic and not hte mosquito. The mosquito is crap.

I'm with the boys on the Ruger or Browning. Flip a coin. Throw darts. Draw straws, do the Eenie Meanie Miney Moe thing...either one of them will will compete head to head with high end customs once they are properly tweaked and tuned.

I went with the Ruger with the short bull barrel (I think it's 5.5") ... and even with a trigger that makes my hair stand on end...it shoots incredibly well right out of the box. The only thing is that you need to take meds before you clean it for the first time. She comes apart easy but will have you chimping out with rage on reassembly. This pistol is proof positive that no good deed goes unpunished!

Just thinking about it has me agitated...think I will go lay down for a bit...:)

Ruger or Browning all the way . Both are quality , both shoot excellent . Personally I like shooting the Ruger just a tad better than the Browning .
That beretta is one of the fugliest things I've ever seen . Regardless of how it shoots .... I just couldn't .

Great comments guys..Thanks..appreciated! some guys at our club told me tonight that they have talked to a couple fellas with those Berettas and they had trouble with em ; so I think i'll stay away from that one!! I really like the looks of both the other two so I guess it'll be a toss up on what i get!! Maybe I'll be left a windfall and get BOTH!! LOL ..one can dream!

I went with the M&P 22 mainly because I have the M&P 9mm, it has the same build as the other pistols out there as well. I found the other to be to space gunish for my taste really, and to be honest they didn't shoot any better than one another. So for me it was just an easy choice, but thats just were I'm coming from.

Peace
