Getting setup for IPSC

it would be a good gun for Single stack or Classic division, and a decent gun for standard. >45 ammo can get expensive,...so I hope you reload. Where are you located?

I am just starting out so I didn't want to break the bank anymore that I had to to start but I still wanted to be comptitive as much as I can out of the box. We are reloading, There will be two of us in the family taking the course and shooitng. We are located in good old NB. We will both be shooting .45. Of course like everyone else that shoots .45 we are still looking around for some more Brass but should have enough for the two of us to take the course.

For magazines, you should seriously look at Tripp mags. Unlike the Wilsons and Chip McCormick mags that you can order from Brownells or POSSIBLY find in Canada, you will have to order Tripp mags directly from Tripp.

Phone them (they are in Texas) and order the magazines that you want. They will break order down in to the right size packages to comply with US export - usually 3 magazines per package.

My landed in Canada cost with Tripp magazines is less than $40 per mag. They work. In .45 they load 8, feed right and lock open; with 9mm their mags hold 10 feed right and lock open. I understand that if you want .40 S&W mags you need to tell Tripp that you want "system" mags which cost a little more but can hold 10, and fit the box.

I have a couple 10 rnd .40 S&W mags from Tripp. They stick out (which I don't really mind), but didn't know about their "system" mags. I can only assume this means the mag doesn't stick out as much or something rather?

Note: They can be made to fit in the box, but you will have to shave down the basepads a bit... do NOT simply assume your gun/mag combo will fit. These mags MAY have been designed for the USPSA box which is larger than the IPSC box.
