getting soaked at the indoor range

I certainly hope you're talking about rental guns require range ammo and not personally owned guns requiring range ammo.

One Edmonton range actually does. Their range, their rules. I exercised my freedom to not join them.

This is like comparing price of a beer at the bar and at a grocery store ;)

I would understand the outrage if you were forced to buy in some way or mislead, but once the price is there, you decide :)

This is uncalled for! No need to rub it in our noses that you can buy beer at the grocery store! We can in Ontario now if you are near to one of the 13 grocery stores in the trial. And by Ontario I mean Southern Ontario.

That's what consumers should do. If you don't want the product or service a business is offering- go elsewhere.

If all consumers don't want the product, the business will fail. Gun ranges like Wild West are not failing, so obviously someone wants their product/service.

Wild West. It's in the West Edmonton Mall - big tourist trap.

Their retail store seems to be fairly well stocked, and prices are reasonable if I remember correctly. Like Gundoggy, I choose not to frequent there.

Wild West is a tourist trap, but its a great business plan.

I've always seen line-ups for the public hours at DVC in Port Coquitlam. That's great for our sport. I hope many of those turn into enthusiasts.

I was visiting in-laws in Edmonton, discovered Wild West. Brother-in-law and I signed in. I rented a GP100 to try, as all I ever had were Smith and Wessons. Can't remember if it was 25 or 50 rds that I bought (was very expensive compared to my reloads) but all were in the bulls-eye at the maximum range of 15 meters or something, all shot in double action. Bought a GP100 from Reliable Gun upon my return to Vancouver. That was 10 years ago and still have that GP100.

My GP100 is just as accurate as that Wild West rental.:dancingbanana:

Sigh.... You people might not know this but it takes money to run a range. If they charged you rock bottom prices for everything you wouldn't have a place to shoot. Businesses are usually there to make a profit and should not be confused as charity...

This is why i hate buying ammo at the indoor range.
i only get there when i go to visit my dad and every single damn time i forget to take my ammo!

top box is from the indoor range, lower box is from my LGS up north here.

But how long ago was that price? I mean cheapest Ive found it was 26.00, and normally most places got it for 30-32$

Home Hardware in St Jacobs Ontario still sells ammo? I'll be darned.

Looking at their website, they have several brands of ammo up for $11.50-14 per hundred. So for a 325 rd box the $33 you bought seems like a bargain.

How long ago did you buy that ammo?

I've been trying to rotate out all my old ammo stock and every now and then I will find two identical boxes of ammo purchased at the same story with wildly different price tags. Like a winchester 9mm 100 rd value pack for $23 and 32$ purchased 4 years apart.

hard to say when i purchased it.
i found it shot like crud so i just tossed the box into my pile of ammo i dont want.
hence when i got home from down south and went to plop the new box of crud ammo into my pile i noticed i now had 2 of them and that is also when i noticed the price disparage.

Consider yourself lucky ;) I copied this from Poco DVC's walk in ammo price:

Handguns
9 MM 50 Bullets $37.00
40 S&W 50 Bullets $40.00
45 ACP 50 Bullets $50.00
50 AE 1 Bullets $8.00
22 LR 50 Bullets $17.00
50 AE 5 Bullets $30.00

well that come with free gun rental I think (oh crap forgot that $30 admission fee on top of all these)... Never used that I only go there with my own gun and ammo.

Apples to oranges.... The DVC prices include the gun to shoot the ammo. And lets not forget the fancy building and staff.

That is a difficult concept for most to comprehend.
