I know this has been done to death but I just wanted comfirmation on what I was looking at buying to get started. Gonna being loading 9mm/.45acp to start. I have ordered The ABC's of reloading to get started. This is what I looked at purchasing.

- lee classic turret press
- lee auto-disc powder measure
- lee safety prime(lg&sm)
- lee auto-disc riser
- extra 4 hole turret
- lee deluxe pistol 4-die set(.45acp/9mm)
- scale of some sort

Please let me know if I need anything else. Trying to keep the price of things down for my start up. Thanks.

You will need calipers for checking cartridge overall length.
bullet puller
powder scoop of some sort, funnel
shell holders for the press (for different calibers)
hand held primer shell holders
scale
resizing lube(not required with carbide, but makes it slick)
adjustable charge bar( for use without auto disc)
powder, bullets, brass, primers,
a notebook to keep track of load data
tumbler

This isn't the be all, end all list, that's what I have sitting in my reloading area.

Saving the plastic or foam inserts that factory ammo comes in works fine for stuffing reloads into as well. Yes, I'm cheap.

I would recommend picking up a case/chamber guage if you are loading for autos, which is likely with 9 and 45ACP. You can always pull the barrel on one of your guns ( to do the 100% QC on each round ) but that is a pain.
I use a Dillon chamber guage for all my builds - it adds a lot of time but then I do not get any jams at the range. I sort with the guage after the build, anything that fails to drop in and slide out goes through the factory crimp die again. After that if it sits flush but need a bit of a pull to get it out --> practice ammo. After a second run in the FCD if it still does not 'chamber' it get pulled and the brass tossed.

Thanks guys. Looks like all in for the full setup without bullets/brass/primers/powder its gonna be close to $500. Could be a bit less if I can find more of the stuff locally.

I'm curious how often you get reloads that have been run through the fcd 2x and still won't chamber...

Buy a beginner's kit. Gives you everything you need less dies and shell holder.
"...gonna be close to $500..." Yep. A kit may be a bit less though.

Going to try and stay local so I dont have to pay shipping. Anyone know what shops around Vancouver are best for getting reloading supplies at?
