I'd like to shoot my G-17 in IPSC. Here is a list of what I think I need when I take the Black Badge course:
-6 mags
-velcro belt
-open double mag pouches X2-any recommendations or will any be suitable?
-holster, I'm leaning towards the Blackhawk as I use this at work, does it need to be level 2 or 3? Or will a standard molded one be suitable?
-500 to 700 rounds
-anything else equipment wise?

Thanks in advance Gunnuterz

Sounds like you got it about covered. 6 mags with 5 on your belt is perfect. Open pouches for sure. Blackhawk or Bladetechs are fine (there's lot of others). If you've already got a Serpa go ahead and use it for the course. Retention beyond a standard molded holster isn't required, so you may want to upgrade to something more competitive later.

eye and ear protection. As for mag pouches either single or double work. some people prefer on or the other. you might also want a bag to keep everything in.

single mag pouches are what most competitors use in IPSC - not double pouches.

I suggest that you consider the Comp-Tac Single Mag Pouch.

Made of one piece of Kydex. Fast on, secure, comfortable, concealable, and fast off. Whether for home use, range use, concealed carry, IDPA, or IPSC, they work great.

I suggested you buy single mag pouches with angle adjustment such as CR-Speed or Ghost since the double mag pouches will keep the mags too close together, also the angle of the pouches cannot be adjusted.

Gear for the BB?

I took mine with my IDPA gear. BladeTech belt holster. Bladetech double mag pouch, leather belt, half a dozen mags and my M&P9 of course.

Best bet is to contact your BB instructor directly and ask what he advises.

No use investing bunches of bucks until you know if you even like the game. Not everyone does.

I fail to see how anyone could not like this game!

:D

I just finished my Black Badge course today.
I recommend the CRSpeed mag pouches since they can hold everything from single stack 1911 mags all the way up to STI/SVI, Glock, CZ, Sig, etc. double stack mags.

They're not cheap but they'll stay with you regardless of what gun you purchase in the future.

Can we buy mag pouches out of the states ?

Why would you not support you Canadian dealers? these are the guys who are bringing in the stuff you cannot export out of the states and are the same guys that you hit up for sponsorships of your matches. Don't buy from them enough times and guess what one day they won't be there with those parts you can't get.

- Not sure where you are located but Wolf reloads are cheap by the 1000. Order from SFRC

- I'd recommend Fast Grip to help with sweaty hands. Double Taps sells them.

- UpLULA helps charge up your mags faster unless you still have the original Glock one.

- A small cleaning kit is good to keep on hand. I have the Otis that folds up into a fist size.

- A cleaning rags is good to have around to wipe down your pistol.

- A towel just to wipe your face or hands if you sweat alot.

- Sunscreen if you're shooting outdoors.

- Eye wear with changable lens for different lighting conditions.

- In time, get electronic ear protectors.

- Shooting attire... it's not only how good you shoot... but how good you look shooting.

- No attitude... Leave it at home.

- Foam ear plugs for indoor matches... double up on the ear protection.

- Water and snacks, unless it's already provided.

Lastly... have fun and make new friends.
