Getting Started Looking for Guidance

What's your budget for the optics?

I'd like to try and stay under $600 for my first one ... I have a redfield revolution 4-12x40 right now but no target turrets ... I really can't afford a G note for optics right now especially when I won't be able to use them to their potential

Where are you located? Try and find a local match and drop in and look around. Most provincial organizations offer courses to help "greenshots" become more proficient. If your in the Vancouver area PM me.

Dang ... I live in Waterloo Region in Ontario ... I'd love to get some advice

I have been there before and I would just run what you have for now and save your pennies for something better. I have not had much luck with the lower priced scoped. Unless your willing to get a fixed power scope there are some ok cheaper fixed power scopes? Just my 2 cents.

Would I regret getting a fixed power 10 scope? The standard on the M24 is a 10x Leupold ... are there do the pros outway the cons for fixed power? why or why not ?

Thanks

Do yourself a favour ang get the varmint with the heavy 26" inch barrel. Also, once you have the gun and scope, dont spend another nickel on that rifle. It will be a good shooter you will proud to leave to a child. Yake the money you would spend on dressing it up and buy a few boxes of match ammo and registration fees. You will learn more about shooting lying should to shoulder with some great talent in a single weekend then you would have thought possible. When it comes time to upgrade, ina few years, you should have a good idea of exactly what you want, where to get it and why.

About the scope, I've never regretted going high end, and low end usually gets replaced amidst frustration and after wasted time and money. +1 For sightron SIII.
