Do I have to take any kind of saftey course or holster qualification to compete in IDPA or do I just sign up as a member on IDPA.com and sign up for a match?

I have been wondering the exact same thing....would love to hear from some experienced members on getting into IDPA

do you have a "black badge" or any other form of holster cert? if not any club that i know of in Southern Ontario is going to require you to take the NSO course (new shooter orientation ) at most clubs they wont make you join idpa before shooting the NSO course and shoot a few times. see if your into it or not. no sense in spending the money if your not shooting

South of the boarder , you join idpa and go shoot. no course req.

where abouts are you in southern ontario are you? want club/clubs do you belong to ? if the club shoots idpa get in touch with the guy that puts it on and chat with him.

I'm in St.Catharines and shoot at silverdale. Silverdale unfortunately is an IPSC affiliate and not IDPA. At this point I like the idea of shooting IDPA because of the service pistol class.

All you need to do is take the IDPA holster course I think mine was 5 bucks a few months ago...

So if you can find a holster course in your area you are good to go, there are usually a few per year and it takes a day to do...It is one of the least expensive shooting sports to get into that I have found so far, you need minimal gear and a cover garment...:D

To join IDPA you can do so at the IDPA web-site. Once you have joined, if you do not have any type of holster training, you can sign up for the IDPA New Shooter Orientation and that will get you were you need. There is a good list of clubs shooting IDPA and growing. For any other info you can PM me if you want and I can help you out.

at my club. its like a one hour training session. buy a holster and bring some concealment cover. they run you through the paces. i was never charged 5 bucks though? maybe somebody bought some tims after you paid jojo?

idpa is one of the easiest cheapest sports to join.

SSP guns fit right into IPSC Production division.......

You should shoot BOTH!!!!

Get a Bladetech DOH holster pull the DO off for IDPA and put it on for IPSC.

Twice the shooting

Twice the fun!!

I offered two NSO courses this year. At EESA, a holster qualification is required to participate in any IDPA match. A black badge or similar holster qualification is go-to-go.

As mentioned, membership can be taken out at www.idpa.com The three year membership is best as you get a bit of a discount.
