Hey folks,
I just bought a brand new Tavor. I decided I couldn't wait for the x95! It's my first bullpup and it's still sitting in the safe waiting on a clear day and your advice. My question is what is everybody's personal procedure for getting a brand new, expensive (to me) rifle ready for its first range visit? Is it g2g right out of the box in your opinion or do you prefer a full degrease, lube and inspection?
All my previous guns have been cheap and used so I am used to disassembly/cleaning/inspect/lube/function check/bang/smile (or swear). I am just curious what others like to do. Thanks!

Good to familiarize yourself with your new Tavor anyways so take it apart and give it a quick clean, lube and inspect.
Two tips for range time.
1. Don't baby the charging handle. Let it slam forward when loading a round. There is a detente the last inch or so if you ease the handle forward and the bolt won't close properly.
2. If you shoot left handed, assuming you are a righty, put the butt closer to center of your chest. If you use the traditional shooting style, you will eat brass, or worse get a spent casing going back into the chamber causing a jam.
Enjoy your Tavor!

I like cleaning any new rifle before first shooting it. Who knows if any leftovers from machining are floating around and what shipping oils are in bad places. I would hope IWI would ship their products in the best condition. But...doesn't hurt to do a full clean and see what you are dealing with. Get your fav oil distibuted.

...plus it so fun! Ahhh new rifles.
