Not sure if this belongs in hunting and sporting or black and green as it is neither. If this is not the right spot, mods pls move to the right one.
This is a little project I have been doing for the past 2 days. Its a mossberg 400G 12 gauge. As you can see that stocks were a little beatup and the bluing was marked up. I was going t turn it into my survival gun with a pistol grip but changed my mine as it would be totally useless. So I decided I should make up a gun for the fiance to get her into shooting a little more. I already fixed her up a pink .22 cooey 60 but everytime I brought my mossberg 500 out of the cabinet she always said it was her favorite gun. So I picked this up for a good price and started the project.
This is how I received it. Just a plain old shotgun, nothing special.
I pulled it all apart to give it a good clean as well as strip the stocks down. I used a funiture stripper then gave it a light sanding. After that I took it outside a gove it a coat of primer. During this time I was trying to hide it from her so I wasnt able to get pics of them primed. After a hour dry time I gave it 2 coat of pink. 1 very light and one to seal the rest. After a 2 hour dry time for that I brought them inside to warm up nice. I was then able to do the paint design on the stocks.
During dry time I was able to mark the barrel for the length and the bead location. I am using a pink hi-viz sight bead to top it all off. After measuring 3-4 time then making my marks for the bead and the barrel length I was able move on. This is length and location.
Starting into it with my pipe cutter. I have used it before on other barrels and always had a straight cut.
After the cut I shaped the new crown with files and sandpaper. With a 24 hours dry time I put it all back together.
It now has a 18.5 inch barrel and pink camo. I still have to reinstall the bead but that will be at a later date.
