Getting the run around here

The RCMP site has been down since at least yesterday afternoon which could be playing a part in it.

I hear you. It's hard to wait, and It sucks. It's exciting getting a new purchase.

Even if the transfer was approved 2 days ago, many dealers don't have same day, or even next day turnaround on shipping out orders.(From my experience) We've been spoiled with Amazon, and other large retailers offering these services. Many of the dealers are small businesses that are simply trying their best right now.

You're right about that. But I'd still expect them to verify it directly - They probably don't bother to tell us about it.

I'd guess that when a customer sends in their transfer notification, the dealer treats it as an "informal" notification. Then they'd check through the business portal as soon as it was feasible (pretty quick if they are well staffed and the website is working). They probably need a copy of the their transfer notification for their internal record keeping regardless.

I'm with you anyway, I always send my notification to the dealer unless the dealer beats me to the punch.
this sounds like the most logical explanation.

My restricted transfer was completed June 9th. Still waiting for cabelas to ship the wrangler. I have called a few times and they are saying they don’t have “their” copy yet. I have provided them with the email confirmation and I also received my paper work in the mail over a month and a half ago. You would be loosing your mind in my position lol.

I'm sorry....did i read that correctly ?? The transfer was completed June 9th and they haven't shipped the firearm that's been in your name for almost 2 and a half months ?!?

Why haven't you called the Police and let them sort it out ?

Yes. That’s correct. I phoned 4 times with about 5 hours into it all. I am currently in Europe and I didn’t want to waste anymore of my time with it before going as I repeatedly said it needs to be shipped before x date so I get it before I leave as I didn’t want it to be shipped while I was gone. I will never deal with cabelas online again.

So, in a nutshell, you are roasting a dealer for trying to cross reference your confirmation email with the RCMP portal and conducting their legal due diligence because you are impatient?

I did a tracking search of my gun (issued tracking # Monday). Gun has not left the sellers location. So bullshyte people thank you very much.

Tracking numbers mean nothing now.
I called a dealer as I had a tracking number issued the same day I ordered, but had not been picked up by
UPS for 8 days.
I thought it was lost in the store or stolen.
Turns out it wasn't even packed yet.
Just how they do business.

I just got a notice from shipping company. Package will be delivered tomorrow. Not sure how the process will work, might need a signature for delivery? Looks like this is a done deal.

Canada Post tracking updates and expected delivery dates should be taken with a grain of salt.

Tracking updates only show when the package was recorded in their system at a few points in the journey. Generally at the sender local post office, sender hub, delivery hub, and delivery local post office. Sometimes more, but you can usually rely on these four. My experience is that it is inconsistent if it shows both "arrived" and "departed" at each point.

The expected delivery date is just an estimate. I've had packages regularly arrive quite early (often by several days) and sometimes a bit late (usually just a day or two).

If you're unfamiliar with buying restricted firearms online in Canada, the whole process from purchase to delivery can be unnerving. But once you know what to expect, I've found it is actually pretty reliable.
