Getting your name engraved on a gun

Yours to do with what you want....

Sure it will remove inherent value, but to be fair, if I was in the market for a savage 99.... and the guy wanted $350 for one with a name engraved?

Paint is cheap.

I would recommend laser etching though. It wouldn't be as deep.

Engraving your name on a gun is like a asking a chic to have your name tattooed on her arse. Its cools for the first while but once you get tried of her and you move on, who is gonna what her when she drops her pants for the first time and they see your name, no matter how perfect the arse is?

I just hate when a gun has a name engraved, even worse is a damn S.I.N.

Makes me think who was this moron?

Sorry, only my opinion

Er, you have his name right there, engraved on the gun.

Laugh2:cheers:

You asked for peoples opinions and damn did you get them...

Honestly its your gun, do as you please. I wouldn't think less of any of my buddies if they got a WELL DONE engraving of their name on their hunting rifles.
Their money, their guns. Do as they please!

A lot of people on this form (myself included) wont keep a gun for their entire life, so they don't want to ruin any "sale" potential...

On a refinished savage 99 that's well used... I don't think you need to worry, give 'er ! (just remember to have it professionally done so it not chicken scratch penciled on like an sks matching numbers lmfao)

You need to go "Full Fudd" if you're starting with your name engraved - carved hunting scene on one side of the buttstock, a coin and/or compass inset into the other side. This will typically be covered by an elastic cartridge holder, but back at camp you can reveal her to the boys. The highest see-through rings available allow you to use the "irons" or the Tasco 4X as you push bush or go dogging.

Saddam should have asked the question here before he engraved his name on this Ruger.
