I am heading down to Gettysburg, PA and Virginia on vacation, checking out the Civil War sites for a week.

Does anyone have a heads up on custom rifle shops (flint, percussion), stores, ect in the area?

I will be traveling from Baltimore to Gettysburg, on down threw the Shenandoah, Richmond, Fredericksburg and so on.

I hope this is the right place to post this.

Wow you are in luck!!
All through the summer you have the privelege to make yourself a recruit in a American civil war regiment!!!

Look on the net for indivigual reg,s contact them and I bet dollars to donuts you can march in a HUGE reinactment when your there!!

If you dont want to march I bet the same regs,s can give you locations of reinactments, and just be a spectator!


The yanks really put em on, where we in Canada have maybe a hundred or so soldiers taking part these guys can field a few hundred or even thousand with calvalry and even artillery.......

+1 I am totally jealous that sounds like a great trip. The Yanks do seem to value their history more than we do. Maybe not the "we" who hang around here but the average Canadian.

I would LOVE to see one of those huge reanactments at the actual battle sites.

That's because here in Canada the descendants of the losers get their panties in a knot because they don't like to be reminded they lost. I refer, of course to the now cancelled 250th anniversary re-enactment of the Plains of Abraham, one of the most pivotal Battles in North American History.

I have been to the sites in the Virginia's before.
It will be my first trip to Gettysburg.

Flying from Buffalo to Baltimore, $49.00 each way.
(less than an hour each way)
Rental car under $200 CDN for the week.

It's not worth the drive from Ontari Ari Oh for that price.

Great trip.

Ran into a farmer near Cedar Creek Battlefield (Virginia).

He had just plowed his field and said come for a walk.

This is private land near the Battlefield.

Here is what I cam up with in under 30 minutes.

Can't wait to go back. If your into U.S. Civil War, Muskets and so on, this is the place to be.

Carried on down threw Virginia.

Each town hads it's own specialty.

Looks like you have a 61 springfield lock there, it must have been fun indeed!

When I went there, There was "allot" of artifacts..................

Spend the time and look around. Gotta go again.
