gevarm e1 .22

Has anyone got the ventini .22 rifle, which is a copy of the gevarm that was made in argentina? The mags interchange with the gevarm.....

From the FunGun website I learned the website for the maker of their mags and drums. Will try calling them tomorrow for some info on costs. If I learn anything useful I'll post that info here.

Did you talk to these guys?? I took my gervarm out today for the first time and I would really like a drum for it. 8 rounds is not enough.

deanner, I haven't gotten any further reply than the fact that my email had been forwarded to the "right guy." I'm now trying to find info on the Venezualan Ventini the can14 mentioned. No luck there so far either.

I have also heard of a guy in New England that is repoping or will be repopping Gevarm mags. I got that from the owner of my local g-store. He has 5 E-1s with no mags for any of them. Apparently the owner of the store has heard nothing from the guys in NE, ( I checked in about this last weekend) He has placed a pre-order for 50 mags when and if they ever get them figgured out.

Mauser you seem to be the "Grand Pubah" around here when it comes to Gevarms...... Have you heard this rumour before????

Deanner, I am anxiously awaiting your confermation on those guys in AB that are going to repop mags..... I need at least 5 more...... one is not enough! :D

I would DEARLY LOVE to get my hands on a Drum mag for the E-1!

Cheers

Thanks for that info, NSRGuy. I keep forgetting about the interest in the drums, so must remember to discuss these with "the guy" IF he ever gets back in contact with me.

It appears that if the price is reasonable on the 20-rounders, most of us would be ordering at least 5 of them. What does everyone consider as reasonable prices?

Here's my 2-cents-worth of opinion: 50-rd drum -$80-$100; 20-rd mag - $50-$75; and 8-rd mag $35-$50.

Dr. appts. tomorrow so gotta' head for the stables since it's nearly 2am here on the right coast.

Well this is the way i see it, you get 5 10 rd clips or you get a couple 50 rd drums....

Hi deanner. Was surprised to see my photo of my little E1 on your post. Glad I could be of help. I swear by these cheapies!!! I've owned a dozen of them since the '60s when you could buy a new one off the shelf at Kmart for $49.50. I had only one down here, but when we moved to BC in late '60s I bought and sold them through our Mom & Pop grocery we operated up in Courtenay on Vancouver Island.

I kept only one when we moved back to the States to care for our elderly parents. Our two oldest kids still live on the Island.

Mags are a pain in the patootie to find, and VERY costly when found. Luckily I've got a couple of each for my E1 and A7. I'm still looking to buy an A3 and A6.

Sounds like you've gotten most of the info you wanted. I've got some more, including scans and so on but I don't think they'd do you any more good than what you've already gotten from JohnC.

Not one of mine has ever misfired or had a feed problem, and believe me I've fed them everything. Nothing like watching an E1 at night unload a 20-rd mag where every fourth round is a Gevelot tracer. Even more fun when it's been converted to FA....

Here's an old '70s S.I.R. catalog ad for the Gevarms. Note price of mags down at bottom right... (I think I'm gonna' cry...)

SIRCATALOGGEVELOTPAGE2.jpg

I bought mine at S.I.R. in Winnipeg. I put everything possible through it and you can forget about cleaning it that often. If you shoot lots like my friends and I you can easily put 3 or 4000 rds. through it before cleaning. Never a miss fire, it cracks the shell right down the middle, no little dent on the side. Something we used to like to do is put shorts in it but sometimes one won't feed but if they do then you have a machine gun. Shorts don't have enough power to push the bolt all the way back so before you can say s**t the clip is empty.

For sure Mauser... at those prices for mags...... I'd be all over them like a fat kid on a doughnut! :D

Deaner: I hear ya, but I'd like to have my cake and eat it too!!

Incidently I took my E-1 to the range a couple of weeks ago and one of the "old timers" there told me back in the day he used to have 4 20-rnd mags for an E-1, and then he told me how easy it was to change it to FA...... I'll probably never try it (cause that would be illegal) but its nice to know where to put the matchstick if the zombies ever come calling! :D

Cheers

just found this w ww.nodakoutdoors.com/forums//viewtopic.php?p=204305 take a look at the last post maybe another alternative for our e1's.

I got an E1 on the way. Thanks JohnC!

I'm in for any possible group buy on mags. And if drums come into the picture, I will SELL things to own one :D

The guy said it doesn't work...... I look at the pics and I think a guy could re-jigger the bugger to work...... I am now in the market for one of those...... whatever they are! He says he thinks its for a Bingham .22...... I think those mags are like hens teeth too :(

I guess we will have to keep on looking.......

I recall when I was a kid,, we shot [must have been at telephone poles cause shooting at signs was illegal] with a defective Gevarm that was very fast, after two empty's down the back of my shirt, we crushed the gun as it was obviously defective and would harm babies as we drove by nearby towns. Shooting out of the back seat of a 1950 Meteor at 50 mph was ,, memorable,, as was the burns on my back! I'm in for another 20 and a fifty,, just for nostalgia,, I had contacted a guy who wanted $100/20rd,, a bit hefty,, never seen a drum, BUT I'm interested.
