Gevarm model??

Brian, I've been very busy with medical problems but still intend to get costs of duplicating both sizes. Let me know how many of which sizes you would order IF the price is right. No commitments, I just want an idea what the market size is out there when talking to the manufacturer. You can PM me with your email address IF interested.

That would be the question of the day .

When the factory was closing, the E2 model was the only one that was in demand. The E1 was for north america. Since there was no demand because the ATF restricted the importation, E2's were only available. I got the E2 models without the threaded barrels.

New repro gevarm mags offered

For all those who may be still looking for Gevarm mags, WGP is offering them down here on GunBroker.com. Check out this URL:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=140563727

I made time today to put together a full page sheet with the COMPANY DESCRIPTION, including a full photo of each model, that helps in identifying them. This does NOT include the A2. which was the threaded muzzle variety NOT meant for export to North America. (I have a copy of the factory spec sheet with exploded view and parts list which is titled E2, NOT E1.)

Both pieces are VERY handy reference guides.

my 8rnd mag has gevarm stamped on the spine is that unusual?

bronco, I saw A PHOTO of one like that in another guy's group, but I have no idea if that was a factory stamping or not. I would GUESS it may have been a late arrival for export just before the shut down of importing and the factory closing.

Too bad ALL mags weren't stamped with make and model they belonged to.

Just a guess...

Wildfoot, that's the kind of information we dedicate Gevarm fans REALLY appreciate. We're always looking for first-hand knowledge like that.

MANY thanks for that tid bit.

NEVER test the depth of the water with both feet.

I believe the closed-bolt models were imported into the US because they stopped the open-bolt model from being imported (for obvious reasons)

I snapped a few photos of the mag that came with my A6. 8 rounder with Gevarm logo stamped into the spine.

Thought a few of you may be interested in some photos..

All the ones that I got before the factory closed were not stamped at all. Some of the 8 round magazines had the holes for round cound and some didn't. The 20's were all the same.

Update info...

I checked the WGP website a few minutes ago. They don't have any more of their 8-rd mags up for auction down here right now. And their website says it's still under construction since they recently moved their facilities. They suggest you email them. Their email address is: wgp@westerngunparts.com

Also, I was scanning some Gevarm info for a fellow in Australia which included an original factory issued (in French) Owners Manual for the E2. That piece includes an exploded view and parts list. The E2 has the threaded muzzle and knurled protective nut for it. That is the E2 for European sales. The E1 WITHOUT the threaded muzzle was for export to North America.

And, contrary to what someone stated earlier in this thread, the A7 I own is NOT similar to the E1 action. The A7 fires on the closed bolt, has a separate firing pin, and spring, etc..

You guys got me thinking. I rushed down and dug out the E1 that was the start of this thread. The 8 rounder has GEVARM on the spine and four holes on the one side. The 20 rounder has two long slots. It is a very tight squeeze getting 20 rounds into that mag. It would be easy to jury rig a "mag loader" for it, though.

A7

I just picked up one of these, that came with a 20 rounder that doesn't fit and the 8 rounder is stamped A7 on the side. When I unscrewed the nut under the grip 3 more apertures were inside, so perhaps it is an A3 with an A7 mag. FS

Fassteel, company pamphlet says A3 came with three sight inserts while the A7 had seven. And, A3 fires on open bolt, A7 fires on closed bolt.

Also, company pamphlet says the 20-rd fits ONLY the E1 with no modification. A FEW owners of various A models have said the 20 WILL fit in their guns! (?) A 20 will NOT fit in my A7! Those other owners may have gotten hold of guns which already had their mag wells slightly modified to accomodate the 20-rd. Hard to say!

Mauser, one of those company info sheets also said 5 inserts on an A7, think I read it on RFC,
Thanks FS

My Error!

At my age I should know better than to trust my memory!

Fassteel, you are correct! I just checked both pieces, one is in French, other in English, and both say 5 inserts for the A7. Interestingly neither says how many inserts came with the A3. THAT info was in an ad from a 1970-71 S.I.R. catalog.

Also, I just noticed in the French version of the BIG pamphlet, it states that the 20-rd mags were only for the E1, A3, and A6 model, the three which fire on the open bolt. And, interestingly enough, those are the only three models offered by S.I.R. back then.
