Hi, looking for any info related to the Gevarm semi auto 22's. From the research I've done they seem extremely reliable and they're unique in that they have an open bolt system. I'm looking into purchasing one that is for sale locally, but wouldn't mind some insight into whether anyone has experience with them, and what a fair value for one in good shape would be.

Any info would be appreciated,
Thanks

Several models - hard to give a value without more information.
Magazines are hard to find, and expensive when you do find them. How many magazines are with the rifle?

They are pretty reliable (or at least mine is); I've never had a problem except maybe the odd stovepipe when I let it get dirty (takes few thousand rounds). I wouldn't classify it as a "tack driver", but they are accurate enough for plinking, or gopher hunting.

This one comes with one magazine. Looks to be an 8 or 10 round magazine from the pictures. I've got a picture of it, I'll see if I can figure out how to post it.

I just added another Gevarm e1 takedown to my collection. It is in very good condition and came with an 8 round magazine. I bought it from one of the site sponsors (SFRC) last week. With 13% taxes and delivery added in, it cost me $319. Triple K in the US sells 8, 15 and 20 round magazines and they will deliver to Canada. I ordered a 15 and 20 rounder for $50 and $55 USD.

The open bolt design is simple (with only 3 moving parts) and very reliable. The firing pin is actually a wedge machined into the bolt face so more surface area is struck on the rim of the cartage making it more reliable than any other rim fired rifle. Accuracy is at par with a base 10/22 or model 60. The take down part of the e1 is what makes me prefer it over my German open bolt Voere. Another neat aspect of the e1 is that it has a reversible main spring. One setting is for hyper volocity ammo and if you flip the spring upside down, you can run target and even subsonic ammo. Only thing to be concerned about is if the seer is worn, which doesn't really happen that often, you will then have a full auto .22. My 12x buddy had one that became full auto but not by choice. He never did the paper work (not even sure if he could have) so it got chopped up. BTW, Gevarms were banded from being imported into the US after a small batch got in and people discovered how easy they were to convert. All because of that pesky full auto thing.lol

They are French rifles with a bit of Canadian history. See link

I think for a rifle in very good condition $240 to $300 is fair on the private market. One of my favourite .22s. Here's a vid from a local Canadian boy.

If that is the one I know of, you are getting a deal. I was thinking of it, but not exactly what I had wanted.

I'm still on the fence about it. The reviews are great on these by the sounds of it, I'm just not sure it's what I want/need right now, kind of in the same boat as you I think.
