Gewehr 41

They were only made for a few years so they are rare to begin with. Add to that large numbers of lost captured weapons on the Eastern Front and that makes them even more rare. A couple board members that I know of have them though.

These rifles are also relatively scarce, and quite valuable in collector grade. Varying sources put production figures between 40,000 and 145,000 units. Again, these rifles saw a high attrition rate on the Eastern front.

Not only is the G41 an earlier model and frankly inferior to the later G43. It has a bolt-style cocking handle and some old fashioned fittings that are anachronistic (big word of the day) compared to both the K98 and the G43. It isn't much of a stretch to imagine the soldiers not liking the older rifles.
 
It was the Gewehr 41(M) that had the bolt handle type cocking lever. The Walther one was more conventional. Interesting I saw both recently during a museum tour of Western France. The whole insistence on not having a gas port in the barrel really screwed them on those rifles.
