Ghost loading while waterfowl hunting.

But in the OP it was mentioned in a hunting scenario.

You asked “why even try to do it if you can't legally use it in the field ?”

I gave you an answer, the OP’s question has been answered already, we’ve moved on with the topic. You may not feel the need to try it but there’s a time and a place for it, so try to keep an open mind.

It is common in my part of southern Ontario. I live rural and can often hear hunters shooting 4 rounds per shooter in rapid succession. It is typically field goose hunters. The odds of getting caught are near zero and there is very high goose population, so I guess they don't feel like they're being greedy.

Three is three and four is four numbers make it hard to make up your own rules . Have been out with many CO's over the years, longest watch before ticketing was almost two hours behind the binos watching duck hunters collecting charges ($500 for hunting over baited pond to start) CO got in punt boat went out 20 yards scrapped bottom with collector and few kernels of old corn and bingo tickets for all. Remember they are out in the field they are like a tick once they are on you they stick around until your bled, finding the next person of interest could take them hours so no one gets a pass or its very rare. if you cant do it in three shots the fourth is not helping you, find a new hobby where you don't have to cheat to excel.

IF I were in a spot where it was legal, as in some sort of competition, I would simply use a mag extension, I still do not see the sense in it except as some sort of parlor trick.

Dont you see it cat, if you have to explain, they wont understand.
And it has been esplained and they still dont understand, hard to figure that out.
Best recent parlor trick I have seen (non firearms related mind you) is taking the cylinder head off of a Ford Flat Head V-8 and turning the engine over.
As in firing it up.
Now thats some cool chit right there.
Seeing those pistons running up and down and that valve train a popping.
Pretty cool enginnerding chit right there.
Btw, those ar some might pretty guns in your pics.
Great to see them out in action.

An officer pretty much has to catch you with four rounds in the shotgun, if he is watching from hundreds of yards away, he couldn't see if you slid another round into the gun through the loading gate between shots.

Any officer worth his paycheck can count to four. He doesn't need to catch you with four rounds in the gun, he simply needs to hear you shoot four rounds in such quick succession that its reasonable to believe you had 4 rounds in the gun.

Separately, can someone give me an example of a semi auto shotgun that is capable of functioning in this manner? None of my semis remove a round from the magazine tube until the action has been fired and started its reward movement. The position of the feed ramp while the action is forward does not permit the presence of a round, and if i were to find a way to get one in there it would cause a jam.

wow you guys. " I wana do something somewhat illegal , but I want to know if everyone thinks its ok."

idiots. this right here is how we end up with more more more rules for the stupid

Mentioned above, at least the Versamax, some Benelli models, the B80, Beretta 302, and I think the Beretta 1301. too.

You "can" do it on an 870 with a flex tab too.

If a person can't fill a limit while following the law, the person either doesnt know how to shoot or there are not enough birds. In either of these scenarios, ghost loading will not help.

Wow. Can’t recall a thread that had so many people posting without actually reading what the op was asking or even really knowing what ghost loading is before commenting on it! Seems like lots of people missed it but here in bold is what the op said,

I don’t intend to hunt this way, I don’t own a gun capable of it. I am not trying to argue it being legal or illegal and I am not advocating that we should be able to hunt this way. I am simply trying to ascertain if it would be legal based on the wording of the hunting regs

Let’s take a deep breath and read a bit before we have another 50 posts condemning the op for things he clearly states he has no interest in doing!

You can do it on an a400, i can confirm that as I've done it on the range... shoots pretty damn fast dem 4 rounds at the target.

Also, for the legalese, if your INTENT (i.e. guilty mind) is/was to shoot 4 rounds at migratory birds and you do so (guilty act), you're pretty muche fked in court regardless of the wording....

You don’t really understand ghost loading. In some sort of competition, as you say, everyone’s semi-auto shotgun magazine is limited to 5 rounds regardless of how long their mag extension is. So with one in the chamber you have 6 shots before you have to reload while innavedaw knows how to ghost load his gun and will have 7 shots before he has to reload. Not really a parlor trick but a distinct advantage in a competition.
