Are ghost ring sights really faster to aquire a target? How much so? Are there illuminated ghost ring sights? Like say with two tritium dots at the back and one on the front? Just curious. :)

I have 4 rifles with large aperture peep sights, they work better than open iron sights for a couple of reasons - when in a hurry, you don't tend to shoot high like you do with irons, and they allow older guys like me to shoot more accurately because you don't have to focus on the rear sight at all, just look through. I find my rifles with a low power scope (1.5-2.5X) just as quick, they have all the advantages but they aren't as nice to carry one-handed.

a fibre optics front bead with a ghost ring rear would be almost as fast as a dot/holo sight. might be faster then some scopes (depends on range and mag).

This is for short range large object engagements like a bear repellant.

I have a trapper that has fibre optics front and barrel rear. Fast but no where near as fast as a ghost rear would be. I fully intend to switch to a ghost ring rear when the rifle moves from being a plinker to a stopper.

I use peep sights on many of my hunting rifles , and simply take out the rear aperture , leaving a big honkin' hole to look through.
Works fantastic, self centering , very durable, etc.
