Ghost vs. CR Speed holster for Production?

If you try the Racmaster you will be sold on them. Very secure and very smooth coming out for presentation. Can't beat the changing of a $50.00 block to shoot different guns.

but you can beat that one little set screw stopping the body from falling off of the hanger. That part worries me the most, the ghost has a bigger unlock lever to hit while drawing.

The hanger was machined so that the holster body cannot slide off even without the screw attached. Can't go wrong with the race master.

I have my holster unlocked after load and make ready. Everyone else who uses the DAA RM that I know of does too. It's a very positive lock until you make the deliberate action of drawing your pistol.

I use a CR Speed. Although I am very happy with it, it can be unstable. The gun is held in place by a plastic trigger "lock". When you unlock it, it has less tension on it, but can get knocked out of your holster with little effort. So you develop a habit of continually checking the locking mechanism, when not on the line to shoot. I have replaced my trigger lock with an Arrendondo unit. It is even less stable (a trade off) but allows for a smoother, and hence quicker draw. I like the adjustability of the holster, but probably would lean towards a DAA unit next time around.

Put that on a clock, I think you'll be surprised. For years now guys have been running holsters that are adjusted to just barely hold the gun in the hopes that they get a faster draw. In reality there is zero real difference. I've seen a lot of dropped guns from Safariland and other holsters that were improperly set up for no advantaged gained. Fwiw when I switch from my CR and open gun to my SS and blackhawk CQC holster I get an average difference of a tenth of a second out to 15m, and that difference alone could be contributed to the difference in sight acquisition. At 7m I'll hit in the .8's with the open set up and just barely out of the .8s and into low .9s with the Blackhawk, out at 15 I'll push 1.0 with the CR and 1.1 with the blackhawk.
A little extra trigger guard tension on the CR won't make any difference.
