Hi guys

I have an RCBS die set with a sticker on it that says Gibbs Rifle products Lethbridge Alberta. This die set is dated at 1979 and is a group 3 F L Set 6.5 Gibbs. Anyone know about this old company? FS

I've got an old business card from Gibbs Rifle Products. If my memory is correct, a gunsmith by the name of Ron C. Propp out of Raymond, AB used to make custom rifles chambered in 240, 25, 6.5, 270, 7mm, and 30 Gibbs.

Judging by the velocity claimed, I'd guess that they are exaggerated somewhat.

Rocky Gibbs was an experimenter who spawned a whole series of blown out to almost straight wall 30-06 cases. The shoulder is also moved forward so you cannot simply fire factory ammo in the Gibbs chamber to make the cases. I have a 30 Gibbs I acquired from Mysticplayer a number of years ago. Interesting design that gives about 100 - 125 fps above what a factory 30-06 will give, putting it between the 30-06 and the 300 WSM, where you would expect it to be. The Gibbs company supplied dies, reamers and other Gibbs Related stuff for this cartridge series. Regards, Eagleye.
