Does anyone have information on custom rifles built by Victoria BC gunsmith Gil CARMICHAEL. I believe he passed away this summer and was a member of the 1980 Canadian Olympic team. Would like to know how many rifles he built, types, and value. Thanks

He did the work on a Browning Auto 5 Mag. I delivered it to him in 1988, and did not get it back for two years. Once receivd he sold his place, and moved to a new location in Sidney/North Saanich area. We never discussed doing any rifle work but he was highly reccommended to do shotgun refurbishing.

I traded a Marlin 39a for the shotgun which my brother wanted but he was not willing to wait.
Once it was retruned, it was listed in the GunRunner and sold to the first caller.

Thanks for the info I have acquired a custom rifle built by him It is a 300 Weatherby Mag mated to a FN Mauser action I was wondering how many custom rifles he made.

There is no way of knowing... I don't know of any gunsmiths who keep a record that would reflect that information. Gil installed barrels on actions and used Fajen semi-inletted stocks. None of great value that I saw.
