Does anyone know if these will ever be imported from Israel? Looks a hell of a lot better than the RRA version.

The upper and lower receivers of the Gilboa™ AR are fully machined from solid aircraft aluminum alloy billet (7075-T6)

Oooo. Yup.

if it were non res id be all over it. but i have a feeling the rcmp would find a reason to prohibit it saying it is a AK variant of some sort.

Their site says they are gas impingement systems but also talk of piston system. So I wonder if they mean direct gas impingement like ARs because that would suck for shooting corosive surplus ammo.

It would be cool but it seems like a AR-15 and an AK had a baby so its probably a waiste of time unfortunatly as they seem like they would be awesome, lightweight accurate 7,62x39 rifle.

According to their specs page the longest barrel is 14.5" so unless they retool for a longer barrel restricted is best we could hope for. It did say on that page that all three versions of the M-43 were DI so probably it would not be classified as an AK variant. If anything it'd probably end up as an AR variant...the pictures certainly make it look AR-ish, except for the magwell area.

There shouldn't be any retooling necessary to make a longer barrel. It may look a little silly with a barrel 4 inches longer. Generally a lonter barrel costs less.

True. You're spot on about how an 18.5" barrel would look, too! And I thought 16" looked a little long with a carbine-length gas system :)!

Why not? What's different from all the other ARs we have here?

I dont mind if its restricted, I have a crap load of AK 5/30 MAGS since I sold my sks-d , Rock River has a version that takes AK mags but the Israeli made looks to be a better version with billet upper and lower and the snazzy mag release.
