Gilboa Rifles coming to Canada...

Not surprising really, as they are AR variants. TVPP and I were talking tonight about the possibility of these rifles recently becoming approved, and low and behold they have been. Note, this group of rifles doesn't include the "Snake", or double barrelled AR, but perhaps that is still being mulled over by the lab.

The importer isn't a CGN sponsor, so I will not be noting who they are. However, it would appear this is their first and only series of guns associated to them as an importer.

All are semi auto of course, and again restricted as AR15 variants. Manufacturer in Israel is "Silver Shadow"...

162247 - Gilboa "Shorty 7" in 5.56 with a 6.5 and 7 inch barrel.

162248 - Gilboa "Commando 11.5" in 5.56 with an 11.5 inch barrel

162249 - Gilboa "SMG" 9mm in 7 and 8 inch barrels.

162250 - Gilboa "M-43" in in 7.62x39 with 7, 10.4, and 14.5 inch barrels. This is the AK pattern mag lower version.

162251 - Gilboa "Carabine 14.5" in 5.56 with a rather obvious 14.5 inch barrel. (Yes, Carabine is how it is spelled...), and...

162252 - Gilboa "DMR" in 5.56 with an 18 inch barrel.

Guns are priced in the $2000 to $3000 range, which again I won't be posting due to CGN rules on non-supporting dealers. Google search shouldn't be too hard though to find the info.... or Facebook..... or Instagram.

I don't see those selling much if they come into Canada, at least not at that price range. I think people will rather spend the $1600 on a CC AR or pay a little more for a KAC than $3K on a Gilboa. Personally, I'd buy a PWS with that money. That said, nothing wrong with having more brands/options to choose from.

Except the RCMP didn't do that with the Arsenal double stack 1911 that was also two barrels fuzed at the middle. What they did do (in their infinite wisdom) was pin each factory magazine to 5 rounds. So . . . total of 10 . . . until you put your own standard 1911 mags in there . . . so silly

I cant see it being any different then the double barreled 1911 which is restricted, or the new DP-12 double barrel 12ga that is NR.

It's probably called the commando because that's the Israeli nickname for ARs in that barrel length. Probably comes from the Colt Commando (and variants) that were/are issued to SF units.

Carabine is just how Carbine is pronounced in Hebrew.

Two separate triggers that fire each side is how they made it legal stateside. I imagine but could be way off that they'll have the same train of thought here. I personally think that it would be crazy front heavy with 16" barrels, would be interesting in a sbr, but in the end like the Arsenal 1911 still too gimmicky for me.

I fixed it. The initial info I had was that the 11.5 had a different barrel length than 11.5 inches which is what I thought was weird. That was corrected.
 
Brining a new gun at this time is tough considering the current state of the dollar, there definately will have to be a made in Canada price structure.. perhaps from Turkey etc..
