Gilled M305 muzzle brake

I really like the look of the SSSB

This one. Doesn't look too long, looks really effective, I always shoot alone anyway and usually wear electronic muffs while hunting.

Who and where is it from?

Member palinak sells them, the guy from the long thread with VZ.
Hunting? When you said 1/2"-28, I thought AR15. At least that is what I have them on.

My muzzle on my m305 had a bit of material removed during the failed installation of a flash hider before I owned it. Does threading the barrel for ar15 accessories require the full diameter of the barrel, or is there a chance mine can still be threaded for them?

The more I think about it, the more tempted I am to try something like the gilled muzzle break.

Kid, you're going to have to put the mic' on your muzzle and see.
I threaded mine like I did so that with a 1/2"-28 nut I could mount the stock flash eliminator. If you don't have that option I'd get about an inch of barrel whacked off and lose that goofy splining (and thread over the last of the splines, that way you get maximum barrel length but can only see nice smooth barrel).

Nice pics. :)

My barrel has already been shortened to 18.5", so if there is not enough material left I guess I'm outa luck. What diameter does it need as a minimum?

Do the brakes increase noise for the shooter, or just for bystanders to the who happen to be on the sidelines (by that I mean like at a range)?

They increase noise for everybody on or behind the firing line, including the shooter. Ear muffs are highly recommended.

Another one from palinak.

About a week ago, palinak gave me this M/B to test it:D
It has one more set of ports, 10 ports instead of 8 (the round double port at the front).
It works great, but it's hard for me to feel a difference in recoil reduction between the two types of muzzle brakes, since I am very recoil-tolerant.
It makes almost the same reduction in muzzle climb.

After I told him what I thought, the bastard asked me to give him the M/B back and told me that I "can't buy one, at least not now".

It looks great both on the Sage stock and on the camo one.

Does that thread on?
Yes, it threads onto the barrel thread close to the muzzle. There are also 3 little set screws which protrude into the spline chanels to hold the M/B in the correct position and to prevent rotation.

Any idea on what the pricing will be or when it will be available? Also what is the outer diameter of the M14 barrel?

I don't know. I have only the other version of it, shown earlier in this thread.
The one with 10 ports was only for test.

But please remember this: I put and tested the muzzle breaks on the chinese M305. I didn't try it on M14, because I don't have a M14 and I couldn't find one to "borrow" to see if it fits.
:)
