Gimme some real life hints about turkey hunting

So I live in Quebec...turkey season is coming and I know where they are. Why does Quebec limit turkey hunting from morning to noon? No afternoon hunting. Any other provinces have that rule? What is the point?

Ontario used to have that rule, when turkey hunting first opened. After a few years they changed the closing time to 7pm, to give the birds a chance to go to roost in peace.

Hunt where the turkeys are!!!

If the turkeys arent in the area, then you need to go to where they are. And not hunt club/greenbank!

Cheap calls and cheap decoys work. A ground blind and chair makes things much more comfortable. 4-6 shot out of anything works but pattern your gun to see what its doing at 20/30/40yrds. You want a good 12-20 pellets in the neck and head of the target and no big holes in your patterns.

Turkeys are not deer. You can set up a ground blind in the middle of the field the morning of your hunt and they will not be scared of it. (Unless you did it while they were watching)

In my area i gotta be there early, they dont roost right where i go but it is fairly close and they seem to only be around in the morning before they all head someplace else the rest of the day.

Water is good as well as sand baths. Look for turkey feathers in the sandy spots and thatll tell you they are bathing there.

If you arent using a ground blind, use good camo and blend in as best as you can, they have amazing eyesight and will pick you off easy. Same with movement and also sound. I was watching a hen about 60yrds from my blind and i zipped up my bibs around my boot and she heard it like i was standing next to her. Whipped her head right around.

Decoys help keep the attention away from you.

I had a missfire on a tom who was mounting my decoy one time. I racked another round in as quietly as i could (not quiet!!!) And he stopped only for a moment to look at me, i was behind a cedar tree) but he then continued to violate my decoy, which gave me time to line up my.shot and nail him.

Did you take your turkey course? I assume you have because you cant get a turkey license without the course. But they mention why (disturbing nesting hens, prevent shooting roosting birds in evening near dark, and allowing others to use the land the rest of the day). Not saying i agree with all that stuff but thats what they tell you in the course.
