With the L.R. primer situation being what it is, I bought a few 1000 GINEX L.R.P. in order to preserve my stash of "brand" name primers! I tested them against CCI's in my 40-70 Sharps Straight & I found that the groups opened up a little. I also found them tight to seat. Today, I was at the range and did a quick & dirty test with 2 rifles. Both in 22-250 The first is a Savage 12 BVSS that I purchased new in 2010. The Remington 700 Varminter I bought used in 1975 from Hallam's in T.O. Probably made in the late 60's.
I loaded 2 bullets: Speer 52 Gr HP & Speer 52 Gr BTHP. The Savage (1-12") likes 32 Grs IMR 4064 and the Remington (1-14"), 38 Grs Win 760.
Here are the results:

Hard to come to a conclusion with this very limited amount of data. While not a "Match" primer, surely good enough for "Minute of groundhog"

Back your powder load off, I ran them in my 308 win load, same powder charge and bullet seating depth, results were 30 FPS more speed, lower ES and SD over 15 shots, groups were slightly better then federal 210 primers.

I got lucky, you didn't, and neither one of us started low and worked back when changing components, I did however wear safety glasses for almost the first time this year. I guess there is a reason we always hear that start low and work up warning when we make substitutions, but, unlike me, you have a reason to load more up and go shoot to tune your new loads, I just have to sit around and wait for spring to go shoot a match or two

would you say that the Ginex primers are a hotter primer possibly ? so increased velocity ?

Am I the only one to have misfires/light ignition with these Ginex primers?

Out a tray of 100 I had about 3 misfires and 2 light ignition.

nope, between 2 of us we had 4 of these yesterday, from the lot with the gold cups, none from the nickel cups as of yet

It's hard to judge a primer by simply switching it from a load. The load would have to be worked up using that primer. That would give you a better idea how suitable the primer is with the rifle being used. JMO

No problems for me but I probably wouldn't use them for loads that really mattered (like for hunting) without doing some testing in cold conditions.

I have a few different brands of large Rifle primers on hand, including the Ginex:

Tonight I will shoot them all in empty primed cases in a revolver (45ACP) and photograph the muzzle flash. This will give some comparative info.

I did this before, with several brands and the difference was quite noticeable.

my results are about the same or slightly better using Ginex primers compared to CCI-400, Fed-205 and Rem 7 1/2. i ended up buying another brick of Ginex

YMMV

Amazing, looking forward to these results.

I remember when Ganderite did those primer tests, definately looking forward to see what the ginex primers do in comparison
Thanks for doing this Ganderite!
