Ginex primer hard to seat solution?

Hi folks,

Does anyone have experience with campro unis ginex primers? Bought some large pistol primers and they seem hard to seat into the primer pocket, s&b 45acp cases seem to be the worst...I'm using Lee Universal single stage press and depending on the ram to seat primers. Any recommended toolsets to get the job done better? No problem with ignitions tho.

Get a primer pocket uniformer. They are avail in large pistol. Lyman or any other brand. Just put the tool in a drill and do each pocket. It’s removable from the handle.
It’s a case problem, not a primer problem as your post title state.

You can swage/ream the primer pockets, might help them seat a little better.

Though it might just be the primers, I've not heard the greatest things about Ginex primers. But if that's what you got, that's what you got. I'd lean more towards swaging, removing material isn't ideal unless you have to.

S&B brass seems to be hard to seat primers in regardless of brand. Square edges. I find I have to ream then out to use.

S&B large primer pockets are definitely tighter than those of North American brands to the point where some of my friends just junk the brass instead of reloading it. Because I'm a good recycler (i.e. cheap ) and the brass itself is decent quality I ream the primer pockets using a #4 drill with the tip ground flat. That enlarges the primer pockets enough that primers seat with no issue. A light chamfering to bevel the mouth of the primer pocket also allows the primers to slide in easier.

It's both actually. S&B .45 brass is the only brass that any of my primer pocket uniformers have actually done anything to. But on the other hand the Campro Ginexs don't have the greatest quality control and sometimes have varying thickness and are very soft so you don't feel when they've gone in all the way. About 10% of the rounds I've loaded with them I've had to go back and finish seating the primer.

I use ginex in a dillon xl750 I find I have to give an extra push to seat them properly. I don't clean the pockets necessarily on many of the round since they are for practice but I do experience the same with new brass.

Never had issues with ginex LPP. I use a RCBS hand primer with Winchester brass. I have had issues seating ginex primers in 5.56 brass but its been a swaging issue not a primer one.

OP,
Chamfer the primer pocket on any Euro brass since it it square edged compared to other brands of brass.

Your inside case mouth de-burring tool will work well.

S&B brass is the issue here. The only S&B brass I don't throw in the scrap bucket is certain rifle brass that I can justify uniforming the primer pockets. Pistol and 5.56 S&B brass goes right into the scrap bucket in my garage.
