Looking for an efficient way to trim 223 brass. I am leaning towards the giraud power trimmer or the tri way. I only bulk process 223 as all my other calibers are precision bolt guns so I’m wondering if the tri way will serve my needs. It will be used to process 500-1000 pieces a month. Let me know your opinions as bulk loading rifle is new to me and I’m already finding it to be a long process. Thanks.

I have the power trimmer for 223 and 6.5 Creed. Pretty slick setup. Could let you try it out if it helps

I have the Tri-way. Works great but you need to wear a glove else you rub a blister in your finger/thumb when the brass spins away from your grasp.

For the amount of brass you are talking about not sure the power trimmer would be worth the price vs the tri-way? 460USD vs 98USD

A glove is necessary for the power trimmer too or it gets pretty sore

That's what I thought until I bought the Power Trimmer. The first thing I said to myself after using it the first time was why didn't I get it sooner, well worth the cost, just for the ease of trimming. Very rarely will you see one for sale on an EE, north or south of the border I think there is a reason for that. The fact that it trims, deburrs, and chamfers the same time, and accurately makes all the difference to me anyway. I had a LE Wilson Stainless Micrometer and after using the Giraud I sold it. The Wilson was accurate but very slow. Putting each case into the case holder to trim the case and then deburr and chamfer after definitely adds up. I only shoot bolt guns and may only trim 100-150 at a time but well worth the investment in my opinion.

The Giraud Tri-way does the same job.....FWIW

With the Power Trimmer you are paying for a good motor and the ability to change calibres.

I purchased a Giraud Tri Way Trimmer a few months ago and have already processed about 800 .223 cases. I echo the need to wear a glove on the hand you hold the case with when you put it in the trimmer (rubber hand/cloth back garden style gloves work well for me and are cheap). One thing I found was that it is best to mount and use it pointing up. When I tried it sideways brass shavings would get into the mouth and prevent proper seating and trimming to the set length. You also have to full length size your brass for it to work properly. It save a lot of time, is well made. I have no regrets buying it and recommend it for bulk case prep.
