I've been pondering a Giraud trimmer for some time now and one thing holding me back is, if you neck size only you have to ship him a couple sample brass for him to make you the cutter. This sounds awsome except for the fact that he is in the states. Isn't brass one of the evil things that can't be shipped across borders? Has anyone done this? Any other thoughts?

ive done this with no problems.
just make sure the brass is neck sized only and deprimed.
if you want you can drill the primer pocket right out so that brass will not be usable.
so far i am very happy with my trimmer. very quick and easy, worth the money if you need to do allot of brass.

The cutter's position is adjustable, so he must want the brass to make the shell holder. Unless you are shooting a wildcat, or have an unusually tight chamber, sending him brass shouldn't be necessary. The case indexes on the shoulder of the shell holder, and it does not have to be a glove tight fit to obtain good results. I use my .308 shell holder and cutter for both .308 and .30/06.

Yes I meant to say case holder and it is his request

When I wanted a nonstandard shell holder, he suggested that I get my gunsmith to make one with the chamber reamer he used for my rifle, which I did for my .375 Ultra. I found that Giraud cuts his sell holders pretty short, so if you can get them them made just a hair longer they are easier to adjust, as next to nothing sticks up above the lock nut.

So even if you used your own reamer you wouldn't recommend one of their blank shellholders, just start from scratch? I figuered he wanted your case because everyone neck sizes to a different degree (I size about half the total length of the neck), but what you are saying is the shoulder position is all that matters? Sorry for all the questions but I have never even seen one of these things in person, all I have to go on is what I have read.

His blanks are fine, but as I said, I found that they were a bit short. That's not to say they don't work, they do, but they would be a little nicer to use if they stuck up above the lock nut enough to hold them.
