Girlfriend tagged her second ever deer.

I read this post earlier today and I couldn't have imagined it could have taken such a wrong turn. Unbelievable really. Take a look at 2013 bucks thread and see how many tags are sealed before pic ... way more without. I'm not saying it's right and I know it is law here and maybe other places, but seriously?? I'm sure everyone out there speeds and that's against the law too. I'm a criminal lock me up

That's not law the everywhere. While it may be law in SK, here in MB you can wait to affix the tag until you reach a means of transportation, so long as you remain with the animal and you've notched the date.

Makes more sense to me... it's typically what I do regardless of the law... Doesn't make sense to drag the animal with a tag on and possibly end up losing or destroying the tag....

IMO, this i the post of the thread. I went back to the 2013 bucks thread, and you are right about the lack of tags in pics. At least skhunter is consistent in posting negative comments, as he posted there as well. He must not have had his coffee yet. As he missed commenting on tags and muzzle directions.

I went back and looked as you mentioned what the hell is going on with all the closed bolts.I would hunt with these people twice the first and the last time. Also nice deer.Be safe.

Why can't you close your bolt if you have proven your gun safe before taking a picture? I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to all of the posters of pics with their bolts closed. And presume that they have all proven their guns safe.

I trust no one when they say their gun is unloaded and if the action is open I guarantee the gun wont go off.Im not arguing with you but think about it gun accidents don't happen because the gun owner meant to shoot someone they happen because they thought the gun was unloaded.Everyone has heard of buck fever in the excitement of shooting an animal anything can happen.

Congratulations on the buck. Just ignore the panty-wetters. They are the guys who complain about the "papers please" life of the gun owner in Canada...but then go on to promulgate the very same "papers-please" mentality. You and your girlfriend did good! Don't let any piley-arsed prick tell you otherwise. ;-)

Great looking buck, hope I can get one like that someday.

As for the tags, lots of people do it. I posted my first here without tags on it but I remember having them in my left hand as I took the pic with my right. Bolt closed....to each their own. I have mine open for pics just because I thats how I do things. Again, great buck, congratulate your gf.

Rifle should be cleared and bolt back in place for pics... It's the rifle's natural position when hunting... Rifle should be a part of the pic and deserves to look as good as you do.. You both did the work... Nothing wrong with a cleared rifle with a closed bolt appearing in pics...

Of course, there will always be those that think guns mysteriously take on a life of their own and go about killing people... Can't help them
