Came across this new in box unfired Beretta Xplor A400 Action model 20ga w/26" barrel and gunpod2 system the other day on consignment in a local sports shop. A couple days later the gf met me at the store on her lunch break to check the gun out and I could tell right away when she threw it up we had found her the gun she wanted. So with that the deal was made and that evening we headed to the club to put it to a bit of testing on the trap range. It didn't take long and a quick drop shim change to raise the drop 10mm and set the cast for a right hand shooter and she was inkballing targets. I was very impressed with the hits she was achieving through the modified choke using Remington Gun Club 7/8oz loads of 7.5 shot. Several of her hits resulted in a total disintegration of the target without a piece falling to the ground. Almost has me thinking I should go to a 20 gauge myself for registered shooting. I'm sure I'd get some very odd looks though at the 25yd line in handicap! :p
Anyways I am sure this gun will serve her well for the coming waterfowl and upland season and hopefully for many more clay target and hunting seasons ahead. Seems like a well made and simple gas design. It breaks down and reassembles very easily for cleaning and will be a great gun for her to carry on upland hunts at only 6lbs 1oz. With 3" chamber its a very nice versatile gun and is also extremely soft shooting. About the inly thing I can see might need changing is the LOP to be shortened a little but she wants to try it as is for a bit before cutting the stock if necessary.

You go girl !! I love to see more women involved with and enjoying the sport of shooting. Get more women involved into the sports shooting to show men they can do it too and maybe a bit better at it as well.

She's never fired a shotgun with the exception of 3 rounds last fall at a stationary target until one month ago. She borrowed a friends silver 20 micro midas and was able to hit a few targets each round. Tonight after adjusting her gun's stock and establishing the poi on paper she stepped onto the trap field alone and proceeded to shoot a 14 & 18 for 32/50 targets and she only had two chippy breaks. The rest were beautifully centred and the 7/8 oz of 7.5's Remington Gun Club loads with the mod choke installed absolutely pulverized the targets from the 16yd line. By the time we got home she was joining the ATA and planning our 2020 schedule of shoots to attend in AB and SK. She was so excited it was great! She said this is by far the most fun hobby she has ever experienced and is already talking about finding a used Beretta o/u trap gun.

I love it when a person discovers a new hobby that they fall in love with, the level of enthusiasm is contagious!

Have you broached the subject of opening that left eye yet? My wife really balked at shooting with both of her eyes open for the longest time but it turned out that she is a bit left eye dominant so opening it really messed up her shooting until we got some translucent dots on her glasses in the correct spot.

Wow, very nice wood on that semi-auto. I can't bring myself to buy an ugly gun, no matter how technically advanced it may be. So far, the only semi-auto I could have considered was the Browning Maxxus. But this one definitely makes the list. How does she like it?

Always nice to see women shooting:)

She is unable to shoot with both eyes open due to some kind of vision issue where each eye focuses independently. With both open she has horrible depth perception as indicated by all the scrape marks on her car from bumping parking curbs, lol. Her glasses have some kind of correction in them to try to bring the eyes to a central focal point but its very limited.

Olympic trap is shot with 7/8oz loads harder targets and almost twice as fast . They get out there in a hurry. That is the nicest autoloader made today . Should be good for 250 thousand rounds
