Hi guys,
Just picked up a Girsan Regard, Beretta 92 clone off the ee. Anyone have experience with them? Any problems to watch out for? Where to get parts if need be? Reviews I can find seem to favour it.
Thanks

I owned 1 for a little bit. I fired 1 side by side with a real 92 and preferred the Girsan.
In the end, I found that I liked glock-styling over girsan/beretta-styling so I sold it, but I had 0 issues with the Girsan and did enjoy it.

They hate Promag's, last round hold open slips over the tab and seizes up the magazine.

Otherwise mine has run pretty well over the last few thousand rounds. A bit of failure to go into battery when dirty but im chalking that up to cheap ammo.

Great gun, I had one for a bit. No issues other then when using Beretta mags. But I loved the stock grips and subtle finger groves. Very well made too.

My take: If you do your part (cleaning) and run it well lubed, that thing is amazing....one of the nicest racking pistols out of the box i have seen. As for parts, a lot of beretta parts fit. I love mine. Eats anything i have fed it and no problems. The trigger is a LITTLE bit stiffer than the 92fs but smoothes out after a few hundred rounds. I also have no problems with extra mags i purchased from Corwin (site sponsor).

Thanks for the reply’s everyone. I know it’s based on the 92F, which as far as I understand did have some problems with locking block failures. A few slides blowing off as well. The barrel and locking block is slightly different on the Girsan though. Hopefully this is long sorted out. Seems the Turks built this thing to be more durable.

Mine doesn't like Beretta mags but works just fine with the Mecgar ones....

Run Mecgar mags, run it lubed. Only issues I had were a couple rounds not quite fully chambered in the first 50rds, solved with a tiny push on the back. Brand new gun as a personal rule I don't worry too much about about issues in the first few mags. Since then it's been flawless. I can tell you that the springs, trigger, mag release, safety, and 92G conversion are all interchangeable. Beretta grips fit but need to be slightly shaped for the finger grooves. Totally happy with mine.

MIne doesn't get the attention it should. When it goes to the range it goes bang every time I pull the trigger and always hits where the barrel is pointing which is in the general area where I was (thought) I was aiming. LOL. Gun has been very reliable and more accurate than I can shoot. Good value for those on a budget.

With so many folks dumping guns right now I would think you should be able to get a gently used Beretta 92Fs for the new price of a Girsan off of the EE if you are patient.

Take Care

Bob

True. I have been wanting to try a Beretta 92 for awhile. I figure this Girsan is a good intro to the platform. For $300, with 400 rds through it, you can’t go wrong.

I had one, amazing gun, I got ocd for uneven machinning parts and this gun has none, german quality tier. I regret selling it, but I had too many pistols collecting dust.

I agree. If you have one , keep it. Great handling and extremely reliable. pull trigger make noise every time. The kind of noise you want to hear. :)

I have one. As said before the machining is awesome. Shoots smooth and is reliable. Only minor issue for me is the frame and grip could be a little less slippery, but it's nothing that a little tape couldn't fix.
