These any good?

Can't find much about them online... $350 on sale... seems decent? Girsan has been known to produce fairly good stuff at a low price point.

Does anyone have one?

Received one in late summer. Works awesome. Finished nice, operates smoothly. Great for the price point. I got it in tan -looks great.

The Girsan MC 28 is a clone of the Smith & Wesson M&P. Some say an improved version from the M&P it was based on; newer M&Ps are improved. An 'entry level' gun; yet today's entry level guns, such as this one, are as advanced as what would have been considered an excellent gun twenty years ago. And I know, because I am an expert because I post on the interwebnet!

Get a M&P 1st gen, their prices are cooling down to $400 level
They're fine guns and work great.
Otherwise consider the Remington RP-9 ( they almost always have the rebate on ).
There's also guns like the surplus police CZ-75s or the Beretta 92s

I'm pretty much done with mystery meat offshore guns, myself.

Well I just bought a FDE MC 28 from P&D for $370+gst.
Sweet deal, Great feel in the hand, will be able to pick it up in January. The mags fit and function in my Shadow, will be interesting to see if the Shadow mags work in the MC 28.
I will chime in again once I run some rounds through it.
Cheers.

Do you have an RP9? I considered one before I finally bought a NZ85, but the reviews on the RP9 were not great.

Based on reviews, likely better than the M&P. Regular price at "cable locks" in Barrie is $399.00. For a striker fired, polymer framed 9, it looks like a good bet!

I ordered one a month ago, still waiting on the transfer. Will let you know when I've had a chance to use it.

Finally got the chance to go out to the range with a friend over the weekend and test out my new MC28. The gun itself performed great...put 150 rounds through it, no issues at all. Slightly less pleased with the sights.
From 25 yards, neither my friend or I were landing any shots on the paper. Tightened up to 15 yards, and we were both hitting the bottom-left of the targets with solid groupings. I tried aiming for the top-right of the targets, and started landing shots in the centre. It seems that the sights are out by quite a bit, which is more than a little disappointing considering they're fixed sights.
I'm going to contact the dealer who sold it to me to see if they can assist with getting the issue repaired under the warranty.

The M&P has the same issue, although not as bad as you describe. I test a new gun and then swap out the front sight for a narrow fibre optic off the correct hit for POA.

I use one with threaded m&p barrel. Original barrel gave me some feeding issues. I suspect because of a tight fit. M&P barrelwas a drop in and works flawlessly. I am glad that I bought this gun and not more expensive Glock, since I realized that I don't like polymer guns. Not Glock, not HK and not S&W. I like this gun. But I don't love it like my fully metal Tokarev and 1911. Although if I would have a chance to chose just one gun for "protection" in case of zombie apocalypse, I would take Girsan.

Does anyone know how to take down the slide to remove a firing pin? M&P disassemble videos don't help in my case. I can't figure out how to remove plastic stop piece at the end of the slide

Sold off my brand new unfired M&P and ordered the MC28 three weeks ago......just waiting on the efficient folks at the CFO. Amazing how a year ago transfers were clearing in a day or two but now a month is average. Anyway, hope it's as nice as everybody claims. I was leaning toward the SD9VE but rumours of 'bendy' frames kept me away. I admit that revolvers are my thing mainly because of the all-metal construction. Would be nice if we had more choices for a budget gun that was all metal.
