Girsan Yavuz - Opinions?

Not much on the net about this gun so I thought I'd add my two cents. It came with two mags, a cleaning kit and a hard case. At first I was dismayed because it seemed so light. I was so used to shooting my 1911 it almost seemed like a toy. It's size is comparable to a full size 1911 and at first I feared its grip might be to much for my small hands but all was well. At the range it functioned flawlessly and was very accurate. I absolutely love the trigger on this pistol. Being use to army surplus the trigger pull felt like a feather. Some slack and then a light pull. Just the way I like it. They say this is a Beretta 92fs clone, but I'm not sure if clone is the right word for it. It is manufactured in Turkey on machinery left behind by Beretta, with their blueprints. Being a lefty, there is one thing I don't like about it. When using the double grip, my one thumb want to rest on the disassembly pin and push it in, which makes me nervous. I'm sure it's perfectly safe, but I try to avoid doing it.

I've got the chrome version, and it's almost too pretty to actually use! That said, it's definitely my favourite 9mm to shoot, and from what I hear, is better quality than the Beretta. I believe it too, since it feels like butter overall.

I love mines. I have 2 of them. And they are deffinately better quality and finish compering to Beretta.
As far as I know, they are used by the Turkish law enforcements and military. Beretta used to get the barrel, slide, frame, hammer, trigger and the spring from girsan and assemble them in Italy.

I have the 9mm Stainless Compact, 4.3" and the Blued 4.9"
10-15 yrd's + the 4.9" gives me a better grouping. If you're in Bullseye or IPSC, IDPA definitely the longer barrel, if not the compact is nice as well.

Idiot in the video pistol swept the camera man/woman 7 times lol, 3 times with a loader chamber... f:P:

Also shooting into the air. It's really not surprising; the other side of the world does some crazy things with guns (have you seen the gun culture in Pakistan? Neat and scary at the same time...I saw test firing full auto AKs into the air from a building in the middle of the city!)

I believe I watched the same video. Whenever I see these idiots doing that I always remember a pic of a young child with a spent bullet in her head. How stupid can you be. What goes up must come down.

update. I've had this pistol to the range a few times and it's developed the annoying habit of not staying open on the last round. A cleaning seems to solve this for a few mag loads down range, and then starts again. Probably the mag, but not sure. Still very pleased with it though.

DEFINATELY the mag. The Meg-Gar mags this thing comes with to me are awesome quality and a VERY strong stiff spring that should loosen up and get a little easier after a bit

The cool thing about Girsans is that ALL the parts are STEEL, and it is basically an M9. On Berettas the guide rod and some trigger parts are plastic but not on Girsan. I did my research on this pistol before buying and I couldn't find anything where people had problems with it but I cannot say the same for reading about Berettas

Girsan rocks....I love my Girsan Yavuz 16, 300 rds through it at the range and not one hiccup. If I buy another handgun I certainly will not hesitate to by another Girsan maybe a Girsan MC1911-G2.

How is the back of your hammer? I noticed a small amount of chipping off the coating or whatever it is after firing 300 rounds, under the bottom of the slide also but this wouldn't affect reliability and I never saw anything else about it anywhere

Same..got the bright white compact and love it. Flawless so far. Trigger is great and actually breaks before i expect it too.

Vice news? Saw that too.
