I would like to give a Ag42b an adjustable gas port, to shoot more ammo safety. From what I have read online it can be done with a new tapered gas block screw and a locking nut. Does any one know where to get the special screw and nut, or a gunsmith that would take this in Alberta?
Thanks

I had started on this project a while ago. N'er followed up with it...

The original screw is metric 4mm x .5mm pitch. I looked for screws with no luck, but did find dies...n'er got much further than that. Many folks who modify the gas-port screw re-tap to something more common. Nuts were available through local Brafasco(sp?), but not screws.

All reports indicate that this mod makes for a happier shooter. Ejected brass not only staying within 20feet of shooter (should fall nicely at your feet), but not getting dinged up through cycling either.

I changed the gas port screw on one of mine with a slightly courser threaded same and diameter screw with an Allen key head and tapered point and it works okay for me, never bothered going to one that had a nut as once I adjusted it to a load that worked well I left it that way.

I found that one of my model airplane engine needle valves had the proper thread, so I used that. I think it comes out to the metric equivalent of 50 tpi.
