Glass for a .375 Ruger.......

My 375 H&H that I hunt a lot with wears a 1.5-6 X 42 Zeiss Victory HT. I think this is the perfect compromise of optics for a rifle that may be used at 10 mtrs and the next day at 400 mtrs. It is one of the finest set of optics I have ever used and one of the most versatile on the market.......JMHO

of course if we are bringing the most versatile optic in the conversation .... did you say about the brightness too ... i sold the last one we had when we left Europe. it was a diavari not the HT version.

i thonk on the market today the most versatile is the Z6 1.7-10x42.

Zeiss Diavari 2.5-10x50 on my 375 H&H. I figure if I need less than 2.5x, I just remove the scope and use open sights.

I just installed the Leupold vari-X III 2.5x8 with B&C Reticle on my 358 Norma Mag and love it.

I did the same thing on my 375CT. Started with the 2.5x8 and eventually went with a 1.5x5.

I liked the larger scope a lot, so it went on my 257Roberts.

I did the opposite. I've used several 2.5-8 and like them.

the Husqvarna on top is wearing a Leupold, 3 - 9, Vari-X II and the Schultz & Larsen below has a Leupold, 2 - 7, Vari-X II. 'May' be going for an upgrade in the near future.

You answered your own question with what you already own on the xcoped rifle.
Why change a good thing...and the 50mm bell will cause you to use a taller ring and thus meaning to have your head held up higher causing your gun to cant left and right(no cheek weld).
Before you go bigger on the objective end go with a bigger dia. tube, but that will cost more $$$, so go with the 2-7X or 2.5-8X and you will be good to go.
Just my .05 worth of advice and I dont shoot GB, my .257Wby is woefully under gunned for such fun.

Generally speaking, concerning variable scopes, I 'try' and tailor my choice of scope to conditions. On some of the bigger calibres, ie: 375 H&H, 444, 45-70 458WM where ranges generally will be closer, a 1 - 4. For general purpose on the 30 - 35 cals, usually something along the line of a 2 - 7 or 3 - 9. Where the ranges 'may' be out a little further, such as on this years Antelope hunt in AB,



I used my 7x61 S&H that has a Leupold Vari-X III, 3.5 - 10.

And last, on my .25-06 with an intended use for long range pred and Varmints,



a VX-III 6.5-20 Long Range with Varmint reticle.
