Best post in this tread... JP.My view is that the majority of optics failures could be avoided by not being cheap.
Devotion to the scout rifle concept of a forward mounted scope seems just to me to be like a hunter who only uses open sights or a bow. Personal choice. I believe it was a big deal in days gone by before red dots, and when optics were not to be relied upon, especially in combat. Kind of like "low crawling" to the bathroom. Combat zone, yes, suburban split level, not so much.
Forgotten Weapons did a video where they talked about the scout rifle concept. Seemed to me like the goal was to make a "jack of all trades, master of none" type rifle.
