I'm putting a SEI front sight on my Norc and it locks up beautifully but still sits a couple of degrees off center. I assume this means my gas system and barrel aren't aligned? Can it be fixed?

I thought the threads on the norc were metric and SEI parts standard thread, making the two non compatible? Please, someone correct me if Im wrong. If it is so, then maybe this is causing the misalignment?

You are absolutely correct. No it cannot be fixed. Unless you install a USGI or aftermarket SAE threaded barrel.

Hmmm....I thought I had heard of others using these sights without problems. It appears to thread on perfectly. It locks up fine. The only issue is with it locked up and the gas plug in it is every so slightly off index.

The hole for the gas plug on the sight and the gas cylinder line up 100%.

I'm not debating the threading but I would have the same issue with a metric GLFS.

Interesting................Is the GLFS your using the type with the dovetail on top to attach your sight to or the style that has sight on it already? I would think if it were the threads that were giving you the problem that the hole for the gas plug would be off, but as you say they line up? Iam just learning about this, hopefully someone can clarify this for you. I am very curious, Iam in the process of putting a glfs on mine and ordered a SEI before learning about the threads.

Dont give up. I'd be throwing a crush washer in there, just to see if I could line things up some and if that worked, do it again with loctite. But thats just me and Im cheap :)

From what you describe, you indicate that you are able to fully tighten the GLFS and screw in the gas plug but the whole thing is off center.

This means that your barrel needs indexing(with respect to the receiver). There are a number of threads on barrel indexing to get you started to fix this problem.
